The recently engaged actor Johnny Depp was a last-minute add to the star-studded lineup expected for Warner Bros. Entertainment's presentation on the final day of CinemaCon in Las Vegas—and there he was. Depp and costar Morgan Freeman kicked off the panel by introducing footage from their upcoming sci-fi thriller Transcendence, in which the consciousness of Depp's mortally wounded character is uploaded into a computer so that he can live on. Spoiler alert: Things go awry. But surely this movie will perform far better than The Lone Ranger, the film Depp was promoting when he surprised conventiongoers last year with a CinemaCon appearance. Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman Ironically, we hear that technical difficulties tripped up Depp and Freeman in real life as well when they appeared a little confused by what the teleprompter was instructing them to say. (Perhaps there hadn't been time to adjust the script for Depp's arrival.) But otherwise, all went according to plan for Warner Bros., which also featured Clint Eastwood talking about his latest film, the big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys; Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis presenting footage from Jupiter Ascending; and Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore talking up Blended. Or... "Never mind Blended—how about that f---ing Godzilla!"
