Jeonbuk Hyundai, which won the first victory of excitement

Jeonbuk Hyundai, a prestigious pro soccer K-League 1 tradition, has been mired in the worst slump since the opening of the 2024 season, with three draws and three losses in six matches. Coach Dan Petrescu, who took the helm last season, stepped down to take responsibility for his poor performance.

Jeonbuk finally escaped from its long slump with its first victory. Jeonbuk, led by acting coach Park Won-jae, won 2-1 in the seventh round of the second half of the K League 1 2024 against Gwangju FC at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 13th thanks to Song Min-gyu's dramatic winning goal in the 45th minute of the second half. Jeonbuk, which reported its first win in seven games, gained three valuable points that set the stage for a rebound in the atmosphere. Jeonbuk (1 win, 3 draws, 3 losses, 6 points), the only team that remained at the bottom of the 12 clubs without a win, was eliminated with the victory and ranked 9th. Gwangju (2 wins, 5 losses, 6 points), led by coach Lee Jung-hyo, who predicted a sensation by winning two consecutive games, fell to 8th place after falling into a quagmire of five consecutive losses.

Jeonbuk has gained the upper hand. Lee's shot was superbly rolled in the 17th minute of the first half, hitting Lee Jae-ik's foot and shaking Gwangju's net.

Jeonbuk seemed to win easily by taking the lead until the middle of the second half, but Gwangju fought back. In the 37th minute of the second half, Lee Kun-hee scored an equalizer in the corner kick opportunity for Gwangju. Jeonbuk won the final concentration battle. In the 45th minute of the second half, Song Min-gyu did not miss the opponent's goalkeeper's mistake and lightly pushed the ball into the empty goal to end the game. Song Min-gyu enjoyed the joy of taking off his top.  안전놀이터

"When I think about the team called Jeonbuk, I was hurt by the fact that we didn't win six games. Looking back, we couldn't win because we weren't good," Song Min-gyu said after the game. "In that sense, I got angry at the players thinking, 'I just need to play one game,' and that I shouldn't play. At the (team) meeting, I said I would be a little more careful about this and try to help the game."

Jeonbuk, led by acting coach Park Won-jae, is seeking a new head coach. Jeonbuk general manager Lee Do-hyun is expected to search for domestic and foreign leaders along with Park Ji-sung and hold negotiations in the near future.
