Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million FA contract

Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million FA contract with the Dodgers and announced the contract himself on his Instagram, saying, "The next team has decided to be the Dodgers."

The deal marks the beginning of a new history in professional sports. Ohtani is well past the previous major league-record signing of Mike Trout (LAA) for a 12-year, $425 million extension and the 10-year, $450 million contract for Patrick Mahomes, the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs quarterback who was the biggest North American professional sports contract ever.

It is the highest contract in professional sports not only in North America but also in the world by a single contract. "Otani has also exceeded Lionel Messi's $674 million contract with FC Barcelona between 2017 and 2021," MLB.com said.

The contract does not include the opt-out clause. It will also receive a huge amount of money "afterwards." ESPN's Jeff Bankruptcy said, "Otani will be paid a huge amount later. Based on this, the Dodgers will be able to reduce the cost of luxury tax and invest more in its team."

Ohtani posted on his SNS account, "I'm sorry for the delay in my decision. I chose the Dodgers as my next team. I want to thank the Los Angeles Angels team and its fans for their support over the past six years. I also want to thank all the teams that participated in the negotiation process. Especially, the support from Angels fans who sent me when I was good and bad was all that I had for me. The six years I played for the Angels will be forever in my heart. And I promise to do my best to the Dodgers fans. I will do my best not only for the Dodgers but also for the baseball community until the last day of my career. Thank you very much."

Born in 1994, Ohtani entered the Major League through posting before the 2018 season. Ohtani, who was young at the age of 23, joined the Angels as an international amateur contract and immediately made his big league debut in 2018 to win the Rookie of the Year award.

However, he only won the Rookie of the Year award due to popularity, and his early career was not good enough. In the first three seasons of 2018 and 2020, he did not stand out as a batter in 254 games, .269/.340/.503 47 homers, 147 RBIs and 29 steals, and as a pitcher in 12 games, he pitched 53.1 innings, 4-3 with a 4.39 ERA. In his debut season, he underwent Tommy John surgery.

However, the 2021 season has completely changed. Having regained his health in the 2021 season, Ohtani recorded 155 games as a batter with .257/.372/.592 46 home runs, 100 RBIs and 26 steals, and was unanimously awarded the MVP as a pitcher with 130.1 innings, 9 wins and 2 losses, and an ERA of 3.18, in 23 games. In the 2022 season, although he failed to win the MVP award, he became the first player to play both regulation innings and regulation at the same time on the mound with 166 innings, 15 wins and 9 losses, and an ERA of 2.33. He also successfully pitched as a pitcher for the third consecutive year, winning the unanimous MVP once again.  사설 토토사이트

In the last three years, he has played 447 games with .277/.379/.585 124 homers with 290 RBIs and 57 steals, and 74 games with 428.1 innings, 34 wins and 16 losses with an ERA of 2.84. He was the best hitter and the best pitcher at the same time.
