SD-Dodgers Bench Clearing Explosion, Why Did Kim Ha-sung Stop Fighting? Disconte

Why are the NL West's emerging rivals the San Diego Padres and LA Dodgers caught up in bench clearing?

The second game of three consecutive weekend series between the 2024 Major League San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on the 14th (Korea time).

It was an attack in the top of the fifth inning when San Diego was losing 0-1. After leadoff hitter Manny Machado struck out and struck out, Jurickson Profar faced off against Dodgers starter Gavin Stone. After the first pitch, the 92.2 mile (148 kilometers) cutter flew high toward Profar's body, and Profar, who avoided the cut, looked at Stone with discontent.

Profar did not stop there, but continued to argue with catcher Will Smith. At that moment, the emotions of the two players intensified, and bench clearing took place, with players from both teams rushing to the ground. Kim Ha-sung, who stood at the plate, also approached Profar and participated in bench clearing, and tried to prevent Profar from becoming emotional in the process.

As a result, there was no major conflict. After a while, players from both teams returned to their original positions, and Profar went back to the plate and retired after a fly ball to center field.

The game ended with San Diego losing 2-5. After losing three games in a row, San Diego went 8-9 for the season, and the Dodgers, which had lost two games in a row due to revenge for its loss the previous day, went 11-6.

San Diego starter Matt Waldron pitched five scoreless innings of one run and three hits, four walks and four strikeouts. The losing pitcher was Tom Cosgrove, who allowed three hits and three runs in the ⅓ inning.

In contrast, Dodgers starter Stone won his first game of the season by allowing five hits, one walk, four strikeouts, and two runs during six innings ⅔. In the lineup, Mookie Betts led the offense with three hits and two RBIs from five times at bat.

Kim Ha-sung started as San Diego's No. 6 shortstop and scored one hit in four at-bats.

The hit came with two outs and no runners in the seventh inning, when his team was trailing 1-4. At 2B-2S, he hit a 95.4 miles (153 km) sinker into his body on the fifth pitch, and the ball doubled, passing between first and first base. Kim Ha-sung turned the single into a double using his fast feet. He had no hits in consecutive games in the last three. After that, he also scored when Tyler Wade hit to the right.

Shohei Ohtani, who started as the Dodgers' second designated hitter, ended his nine-game hitting streak with an RBI, two walks and zero hits in two at-bats.
