Viewed 10 times22-4-2024 04:30 PM

On January 2, 2023, six Macau concessions announced that they would pay the Macau government the basic amount of MOP750 per square meter of gaming space for the first three years of the last 10-year concession contract and the remaining seven individually paid MOP2.500 to the Macau government so that they could "lease casinos to their respective integrated resorts."

Fee:

In the second and third base years, MOP750 is raised according to the Macau average price index, and MOP1.500 is equally indexed from the fifth to the tenth base years.

"The fee is based on the return of the casino area of the concessionees' property to the SAR government in Macau as the 20-year concession period before December 31, 2022 expires," an SJM Resort official said.

Concessions in the Last 10 Years:

The latest 10-year concession agreement began Jan. 1, 2023, and five of the six concession companies, excluding Galaxy Entertainment Group, publicly announced in a news release on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that they had agreed with the government to "lease casino areas within the integrated resorts they operate in the next decade."

In addition, Galaxy Entertainment Group directly submitted a confirmation to IAG that the payment fees were the same as those of the other five concessioners.

The fee is paid in March every year.

Different concession fees:

"Annual fees describing the use of casino zones at Casino Grand Lisboa, Casino Grand Lisboa Palace, Casino Lisboa, and Zayalai Casino Oceaners will reach $69 million ($8.6 million) in the first year (2023) and $229.3 million ($28.7 million) in the fourth year (2026)," an SJM Resort official said at a news conference on Friday. However, the second, third, and fifth through tenth years will be indexed as already described above.

"We have agreed to return the casino area and lease 31,227.3㎡ in City of Dreams Macau, 28,784.3㎡ in Studio City and 17,128.8㎡ in Altira," added Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco. This represents an annual fee of $57.9 million ($7.2 million) in the first year of the new concession, rising to $192.9 million ($24.1 million) from the fourth year.

"We are honored and grateful to receive a 10-year concession from the Macao SAR government on the game.

"The company appreciates the leadership and guidance of the central government in supporting Macau's continued integration with mainland China," he said. "We promise full support for the sustainable and diversified development of the tourism and leisure industry in Macau, and we will continue to cooperate with the government, local communities and stakeholders to benefit and contribute to the development of Macau as a key global tourist destination."

However, the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th to 10th years will also be indexed as already described.
