The sixth Borgata Poker Open got off to a flying start last week, with a record 1,192 players topping the list and participating in the $300 No-Limit Holdum, which won $357,600 and $77,170 in first prize money.

New Jersey native Daniel Apicella won the Borgata Summer Open in 2007, winning the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em event just over a year ago, winning $107,360.

In fact, many Atlantic City regulars have made their Borgata Poker Open debut, including Mike Cica, Al Crooks, Tom Coan, Tony Salerno, Davison Matthew, Eugene Todd, Dale Pinchot, and Luruso. According to northern New Jersey resident and Borgata Poker Open sponsor Boris Kravets, players are excited to return to Borgata and are excited about the opportunity to play in Borgata's unprecedented $5 million guaranteed World Poker Tour Main Even, which will take place Sept. 13-18.

"I'm excited to be back and I'm ready to win my first poker open title," said Kravets, who recently played at the 2008 Borgata Summer Open. The second game of the tournament, the $500 No-Limit Holdum Event, was won by Michael Dolan of New York, who placed fifth in the $500 No-Limit Holdum Event at the 2005 Harrer Atlantic City May Tournament. Houston's Geffrey Klein won the first prize of $150,712 in the $1,000 No-Limit Holdum event, Event #3. Klein is a regular tournament player for Atlantic City and has had the World Series Poker Cash on his resume since 2005. Event #4 went to New York veteran Avdo Djokovic, who took $178,588 in the $1,500 No-Limit Event.
