The Washington State Gambling Commission approved compacts last week that would allow the Muckleshoot tribe to build a second casino and authorized the Snoqualmie Tribe to build a new casino.

The Snoqualmies want to build a new casino along Southeast North Bend Way off Exit 27 on Interstate 90. Because the Snoqualmies do not currently have tribal land, they've requested the Bureau of Indian Affairs to take into trust 56 acres in order to build the new casino.

Minneapolis architecture firm Walsh Bishop has been retained to design the Snoqualmie casino. Preliminary designs show a three-story, 170,000-square-foot mountain lodge-style building that holds three restaurants and a 400-seat theater in addition to gaming space.
