Many friends intend to take advantage of the dividends of Hong Kong talent to a wave of Hong Kong identity, thus paving the way for more and better future for the family, children and career. Then the question arises.work visa application hong kong If you have obtained your Hong Kong identity through four common ways, including the Talent Pool, Hong Kong Talent Pool, Talent Program and Study Abroad, and you are ready to add dependents, what do you need to pay attention to?

1. Who can be a dependent?

Hong Kong non-permanent residence, you can add dependents by adding: spouse + children under 18 years old.

For Hong Kong permanent residence, you can add dependents: spouse + children under the age of 18 + and parents over the age of 60 who do not have children in the Mainland (children who do not have permanent residence in the Mainland). "Dependent Visa", "One-way Permit" and "Visa Status Book" (commonly known as the Yellow Book), you need to give up your mainland status.

2. Do I have to wait for approval before I can add a dependant?

For Hong Kong Talents, Professionals and Talents Pass, you can add a dependant at the time of application, or you can wait for approval before applying for a dependant. If you add a dependant through a trust, you have to provide a place of residence in Hong Kong. If you are studying in a foreign country, you need to apply for a student visa and Hong Kong resident status before you can add a dependant.

3. Do I need to rent an apartment in Hong Kong before applying for a dependant?

If the corporate applicant and the dependant can submit their applications at the same time, there is no need to rent an apartment in Hong Kong beforehand.

If the applicant has already been approved and obtained Hong Kong status before joining the dependents, he/she has to provide address proof. Rent a house or buy a house.

4. Can the dependants study or work in Hong Kong?

After obtaining Hong Kong identity, the dependants can come to Hong Kong to study and enjoy primary and secondary education as well as higher education in Hong Kong, and they can also come to Hong Kong to work.

It will be more complicated if the applicant is studying in Hong Kong to get Hong Kong status. During the period of obtaining the student visa, the dependents need to obtain prior permission from the Immigration Department before they can go to work; the children can go to school in Hong Kong, but they cannot enjoy the free benefits in Hong Kong.

5. How long is the period of stay for a Dependent Visa?

If the applicant is a non-permanent resident of Hong Kong, the period of stay for a Dependant Visa is the same as yours.

If the applicant has already obtained the permanent right of abode in Hong Kong, he/she will add the dependents, who will have to give up their mainland status and will be granted seven years' residence directly for the first time.

6. What are the conditions to be fulfilled for the renewal of Dependent Visa?

If the applicant is a Hong Kong resident, the dependent visa is linked to the applicant. The prerequisite for visa renewal is that the applicant's visa can be successfully renewed and the dependants are still eligible.

If the corporate applicant divorces his/her spouse, the spouse is not required to be eligible for corporate visa renewal.

If the applicant is a Hong Kong permanent resident, the dependants will be eligible for renewal as long as they still qualify as dependants.

7. When will the dependants get permanent residence?

Like the applicant, a dependant who has ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for 7 years may apply for permanent residence in Hong Kong. Dependants who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for permanent residence in Hong Kong on their own without having to stay in Hong Kong for the same period as the applicant.

8. Can dependants keep their Mainland household registration?

They can retain the dual cultural status of Mainland Hukou + Hong Kong Permanent Residence without canceling their urban household registration in the Mainland of China.

If the dependants have been admitted to higher education in the Mainland with low scores in the DSE and the Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Examinations, they will be required to hold a Home Visit Permit and will have to cancel their Mainland Hukou.
