Students hospitalised after eating glass shards in fried noodles meal

PETALING JAYA: Seven students under the Government's Rancangan Makanan Tambahan (Supplementary Food Programme) were admitted to hospital after reportedly eating glass shards found in a provided Mi Goreng (fried noodles) meal on Wednesday.
Kuala Kubu Baru assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong said the children's parents suspect that a glass window on the supplier's lorry shattered during the journey to SJK(T) Ladang Nigel Gardner in Hulu Selangor, causing it to fall into the food.

"I was told that they tried to show a teacher that there was glass in the noodles on Wednesday.
"Students were told to throw it away, that it was just plastic," claimed Lee.
However, some of the children ate two plates of noodles because they were very hungry.
On Thursday, a few complained about feeling ill, but it was not until Friday that the situation appeared dire enough for the school to send them to the Batang Berjuntai clinic.
The staff there deemed the situation serious, prompting the parents to send the children to Sungai Buloh hospital, where the four girls and three boys were admitted on Friday.
Some found traces of blood in their vomit, while others complained of bloody stools.
"Very kesian (pitiful), because they don't know what to say, they're in pain. Other than that, they don't know what is happening," said Lee, who added that two students have been discharged since her visit on Saturday.
At time of writing, the food supplier from Batang Berjuntai has yet to appear at the hospital, though the headmaster has apologised to the parents.
However, the parents have not lodged a police report yet as they are busy caring for their children.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan, who is also Hulu Selangor MP, sent an officer to meet the students on Saturday as he is away in Mersing, Johor for an official visit.
Kamalanathan will visit the warded students upon his return tonight.

Canteen operators told to stop operations after glass shards found in fried noodles
 A glass shard allegedly from the fried noodles served to the children.
SUNGAI BULOH: Operators of the canteen in SJK(T) Ladang Nigel Gardner in Hulu Selangor, who had served fried noodles reportedly containing glass shards to pupils, were told to cease operations immediately.
According to Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan, this was necessary as an investigation was being conducted by the district education office.
“If the canteen operators are found to be at fault, we will ensure strict action is taken against them.
“In the meantime, since investigations are ongoing, they are not allowed to operate at the moment,” he said Sunday when visiting the pupils who were admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
It was reported that the pupils reportedly eat the glass shards found in their fried noodles served under the supplementary food programme last Wednesday.
Four girls and three boys were taken to the Batang Berjuntai clinic on Friday and because their situation was deemed serious, they were later admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

ishhh bahayanya, teringat plak adik iols goreng sayur campur byk lak tu masa nk buh dlm pinggan dr kuali blh plak pinggan tu pecah dan termasuk dlm kuali tu lah.
rasa sayang sgt sbb byk lak tu dia masak tp abah iols berkeras suh buang je semua sayur tu sbb takut ade serpihan kaca pinggan dlm tu. |

even plastik pun mana boleh suh budak2 makan...
kapla jingga punya cikgu .. kesian budak2 yg makan tuh, mesti lapa giler
harap kantin & cikgu kene tindakan tatatertib .... |

kan.. Terkejut gak bila baca sebut RMT, risau plak sbb ank iols pun mkn RMT kt sekolah. sblm ni mmg bawak bekal tp sebab dia kelas ppki,mmg otomatik dpt rmt.
dah knkawan sekelas semua mkn rmt ank iols pun tanak dah bawak bekal nk mkn sama2 ngn kenkawan dia.
risau juga.. harap makcik kantin masak dgn seikhlas hati takmolah cincai2 gini. sian budak2.. terutama yg dtg dr golongan tak berkemampuan dan kanak2 istimewa nih. |
