KUALA LUMPUR – May 20, 2015: A PKR member of the Public Account Committee (PAC) has given his assurance that the probe on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) will be impartial.
PKR treasurer-general William Leong Jee Keen who is the Selayang member of Parliament and sits in the committee said the public may appraise the equitability of PAC once the report on the 1MDB issue has been released.
“The proceeding’s report will be available for public’s assessment. They may read the questions we asked, the answers we received and decide for themselves,” he said.

A weaker ringgit is like a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can boost export competitiveness and is favourable for the manufacturing and tourism sectors, and investors. However, at the same time, it can lead to imported inflation as the price of imported goods and services could increase.
The ringgit’s decline means cheaper exports and, subsequently, higher demand from the importing nations which use the ringgit for their business transactions with Malaysia.
The weaker ringgit may also attract more foreign direct investments, which can lead to higher demand for the currency, thus helping to prop up its value.
The tourism sector also stands to benefit as more tourists take advantage of the weak ringgit to buy holiday packages to Malaysia.

apa punya statement puak2 Najib ni... kalu currency naik pun ada gak segelintir yg benefit sama jugak kalau turun... sebagai kerajaan.. ko kena pastikan majority yg kena benefit.. yakni currency yang stabil... macam tol naik, yang ko canang penunggang motorsikal tak terkesan dek kenaikan tol... memanglah.. tapi yg naik kereta 4 roda amacam.. takkan semua nak naik motor kot... ini bodoh punya geng.. |

On paper (theoretical)......weaker Ringgit looks good.
Historical wise............when Malaysia enjoyed 8% growth for almost a decade a.k.a the golden era during Tun Det's time...........Ringgit appreciated against the dollar to almost RM2.20 per dollar. FDI kept coming in...........buying Ringgit.......FX dealers thought if this persisted, then MYR will break 2.0 to a dollar.
Every rakyat was happy............money seemed everywhere thanks to FDI, foreign speculators what not. Buying imported product was nothing spectacular.
Then came the Asian Financial crisis...........where FDI, speculators were seen herding out pushing the MYR to almost 5 to a dollar. Nuart increased the interest rate to double digit and instead of calling the FDI to come back, local business people "kaput" and has to close their businesses. Tun Det introduced capital control and pegging the currency. Malaysian market (KLSE, money market) is left with basically the locals. The economy seemed nowhere to go and of course the imported inflation.
Conclusion.
1. MYR depreciated due to foreigners moving out of Malaysia as a result of them buying USD sell MYR (weak MYR will not lead to foreigners flocking to Malaysia if they have no confidence in the Malaysian politic/economy)
2. Most manufacturers are dependent on imported raw materials or components. Cost of manufacturing increased in MYR term. Many manufacturers might close their business in Malaysia. Increased in termination of staffs.............VSS/MSS as sweetener.
3. Proton, Perodua and all car manufacturers will have to increase their car prices............hurting locals. Other imported products e.g. the drugs will be adjusted upwards.
4. The price of properties may move upwards as foreigners found it cheap to buy.............depriving the locals of their basic needs.
5. If a currency depreciates too much.....it is a symbol of weak economy, weak government of a country
6. No country will be proud if their national currency depreciates. Fullstop.

soalannya kat sini betul ke tak betul bila pengerusi pac sebut on the positive side, kejatuhan ringgit akn bg kelebihan utk pasaran export komoditi dlm usd?

bai, satu lagi faktor ringgit lemah, yg semua orang abai/kerajaan umno pun segan nk bagi tau:
pengaliran mata wang ringgit yg disebabkan kiriman wang balik ke negara asal oleh pendatang/pekerja asing
skg ada 7juta pendatang/pekerja asing di negara ni
katakan hanya 5 juta drpd 7 juta pekerja asing setiap bulan kirim hanya rm500 balik kampung
5000000xrm500 = rm2500,000,000 = rm2.5b
12 bulan/ 1 tahun = rm30b
ringgit mmg la telur dipegang kaw2 oleh negara luar

Org2 ni mase buat statement slalu g pasar, shopping dgn org kaya2 je ke? pernah tak org2 ni tengok muka org2 yg middle class dgn org susah belanja pasar or shopping or makan? Aku tengok pon kesian...
yg hidup susah tak hengat tu tak perlu citer.. buat hati sebak je..
