gara2 TPPA Obama rasa nya terpaksa muka tebal jer lah dengan rakyat dan pengkritik nya, agenda Geo-economic Amerika terhadap China melalui TPPA harus diteruskan walau ditentang rakyat mereka sendiri dan banyak negara2 yang ikut dalam rundingan TPPA termasuk Malaysia, kecuali kalau China nak join sekali, kiri atau kanan tetap jer "Check" kalau dalam istilah permainan catur sebab mereka itu factory dunia....

Kalau salah satu negara TPPA dilanggar China, automatik Amerika ada alasan untuk masuk campur lah kata kannnn....

The woes surrounding Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, particularly claims that billions of ringgit from state-owned investor fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) were channelled into his private bank accounts, should give world leaders pause in pursuing ties with Malaysia, says TIME in an online piece today.

The news portal said President Barack Obama should steer clear of Najib, unlike British Prime Minister David Cameron, who is scheduled to visit Malaysia this week, despite needing friends in Asean.

Obama became the first sitting president to visit Malaysia in more than four decades in April 2014  when Najib was facing allegations of links to the murder of a Mongolian translator and for exploiting the hudud issue pursued by an opposition party.

In December last year, while the east coast was inundated in the worst flooding in the country’s history, Najib was photographed enjoying a round of golf with Obama in Honolulu.

Lately, he was hit by allegations by The Wall Street Journal that US$700 million (RM2.67 billion) from companies linked to 1MDB was funnelled into his accounts.

Yesterday, Najib announced a Cabinet reshuffle and dropped Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as his deputy. Also removed was Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, who is part of a special task force investigating 1MDB. The move is seen as a desperate attempt by Najib to remain in power.

Obama is scheduled to attend the next East Asia Summit hosted by Malaysia in November. The American president is also working overtime to ink the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement in which Malaysia is one of the parties.

Given the turmoil surrounding Najib, TIME has offered five reasons Obama should steer clear of the prime minister:

1. 1MDB. Najib has threatened to sue WSJ over allegations that RM2.67 billion was funnelled into his bank accounts. The prime minister has denied using the funds personally but has not addressed the question why the money went into his account ahead of the 2013 general election.

2. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains in jail on a second sodomy conviction on February 10. The five-year sentence is seen as “politically motivated”.

3. Hudud. Najib’s party – Umno – is supporting PAS’s attempt to implement hudud in the Islamist party-ruled state of Kelantan. The hudud push has already led to the break-up of opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat, especially after PAS adopted a motion to sever ties with DAP at its June muktamar. Umno’s support is to seen as political expediency to create a rift in PR.

4. Altantuya Shaariibuu. Najib is implicated in the murder of Mongolian Altantuya. Former police commando Sirul Azhar Umar, who was Najib's former bodyguard, claimed he was "under orders" to kill Altantuya in 2006. The prime minister has denied any knowledge of the murder.

5. Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA). The Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) was passed by the Dewan Rakyat on April 7, showing that Najib has backtracked from the liberal, reformist policies he had touted in his first term in office. POTA replaced the Internal Security Act and contained harsh features such as imprisonment without trial for two years with the option of multiple extensions.

Najib also reneged on a 2013 election promise to scrap the Sedition Act. He, in fact, introduced amendments which worsened the maximum jail term from three to 20 years. – July 29, 2015.

Washington is having serious trouble finding dependable allies in Southeast Asia

The U.S.’s “rebalancing” toward Asia has two main pillars: being a counterweight to China and securing a free-trade deal called the Trans-Pacific Partnership. If Washington is to succeed on both fronts, it needs as many friends in the region as it can win. The U.S.’s newest ally is Malaysia, this year’s chair of the 10-member Association of Southeast Nation, collectively a growing market, and, on the surface, a modern, democratic, Muslim country. In April 2014 U.S. President Barack Obama paid an official visit to Malaysia, the first sitting President to do so in decades, and, later in the year, played golf with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak when both were on holiday in Honolulu. This November, Kuala Lumpur will host the next East Asia Summit and Obama is due to attend.

But recently, all the news coming out of Malaysia is negative. After becoming embroiled in a corruption scandal, Najib on Tuesday sacked his deputy and Malaysia’s attorney general in an apparent purge of critics. British Prime Minister David Cameron is facing a domestic backlash for pushing forward with a visit to Kuala Lumpur this week despite the snowballing controversy. Here are five reasons why Obama might want to break from Cameron by giving Najib a wide berth.

1MDB — A Wall Street Journal report has alleged that Najib’s personal bank accounts received nearly $700 million in March 2013 from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a government-owned development fund. Najib has protested his innocence and threatened legal action against the Journal. “I am not a thief,” Najib told Malaysian media on July 5. “I am not a traitor and will not betray Malaysians.” The police, the local anticorruption agency, the attorney general’s office and the central bank are investigating the allegations. On July 8, the police raided 1MDB’s office in Kuala Lumpur and took away documents. Even before the latest news, 1MDB was an embarrassment for Najib, who chaired the fund’s advisory board as debts of $11.6 billion were accrued. Such are the suspicions of malfeasance that former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who ran the country from 1981 to 2003 and has long been considered Najib’s mentor, has repeatedly called for his protégé’s resignation over 1MDB’s alleged mishandling.

Anwar Ibrahim — Najib’s main political rival is once again in prison for a sodomy conviction. Human Rights Watch deemed his five-year sentence handed down Feb. 10 to be “politically motivated proceedings under an abusive and archaic law.” This is the second time Anwar has been jailed for sodomy.
Hudud — Stoning for adultery and amputation for theft are not the kind of punishments meted out by the progressive state that Malaysia purports to be. Yet Najib’s United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) is supporting attempts to introduce hudud Islamic law in the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party’s (PAS) heartland state of Kelantan, where nightclubs are forbidden and men and women are designated separate public benches. Why is UMNO supportive of recognizing hudud under federal law? Largely because PAS is part of a three-party Pakatan Rakyat coalition that is UNMO’s chief challenger. The other partners — Anwar’s Keadilan, or People’s Justice Party, supported by middle-class, urban Malays, and the Chinese Malaysian–backed Democratic Action Party (DAP) — are strongly against hudud. Many analysts accuse UMNO of cynically fostering a radical Islamic bent to widen rifts in its political opponents.

Shaariibuugiin Altantuyaa — In 2002, when Najib was Defense Minister, a $1.25 billion contract was signed to purchase two Scorpène submarines from French firm DCNS. Altantuyaa was a Mongolian woman who, knowing French, facilitated negotiations as a translator, and then allegedly attempted to blackmail Abdul Razak Baginda, one of Najib’s aides with whom she was also having an affair, for $500,000 over “commission” payments he had allegedly received. Two policemen posted to Najib’s bodyguard detail were convicted of murdering Altantuyaa on Oct. 18, 2006. Najib denies any involvement.

Prevention of Terrorism Act — Najib campaigned on scrapping the controversial Internal Security Act (ISA) but then immediately replaced it with the equally sweeping Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) and Security Offences (Special Measures) Act, or SOSMA. The POTA includes practically the same powers as ISA, including two-year detention without trial, and was dubbed a “legal zombie arising from the grave of the abusive [ISA]” by Human Rights Watch. Najib also vowed to repeal the similarly maligned Sedition Act but reneged after his election in 2013. In fact, in April his government extended the maximum jail term under the Sedition Act from three to 20 years.

                    David Cameron, the British prime minister, is to press ahead with a visit to meet his besieged Malaysian counterpart, Najib Razak, on Thursday despite calls for him to pull out in wake of allegations that Najib has corruptly taken aid cash for personal gain.
On Tuesday, Najib sacked his deputy, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who has fiercely criticised the government’s handling of allegations of abuse of funds by by state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Cameron has made the fight against corruption by politicians and businesses one of the key themes of his four-day visit to south-east Asia, claiming it is a cancer at heart of good government and growth.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong, Cameron said he would go ahead with his visit, insisting nothing would be off the table in his talks with the Malaysians.
“It is very important to put this on the agenda and ask other leaders to consider it and, yes, to go ahead with visits to countries where there are issues about these things,” he said.
“Because if there are issues it is better to be there talking about it, asking about them, rather than turning away and looking away. Nothing is off the table – we discuss all of these issues.”
The two prime ministers are due to make a joint appearance, but will not necessarily take questions that would likely to be dominated by the crisis at heart of the Malaysian government.

He said: “You have to ask yourself, what is at the root of so many problems in the world today, why so many countries and people are stuck in poverty. Often the answer is corruption.
“That is why so many are attracted to extremist movements, because of the corruption that exists in governments. Why do so many states fail leaving us with so many problems we are dealing with, including the problems at Calais – that goes to corruption.
“Corruption is often the cancer at the heart of these problems that we need to deal with.”
Cameron praised what he called Lee’s commitment to zero tolerance of corruption.
He said: “I think using transparency and openness is vital, which is why I have been such emphasis on the transparency of ownership of companies and to prevent corrupt people use shadowy companies to hide their money.”
Najib has been urged to resign after media reports alleged some US$700m linked to a troubled state investment fund had ended up in his personal bank accounts.
Najib has insisted he is innocent of any charges that he has taken money, and has sacked four ministers, his attorney general and deputy prime minister in a bid to disarm his critics. A crackdown on dissent has also seen two newspapers suspended and a British-based whistleblowing website blocked.
But he has taken a risk and will be in the middle of a firestorm by the time Cameron arrives.
Cameron has been asked to meet opposition leaders and not just the government to show solidarity with those that are taking his campaign against corruption to heart.
