KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) expects after-sales business to contribute 25% to its revenue by year-end from the current 15%-20% amid the setting up of more facilities and the presence of more Perodua vehicles on the road.

Its president and chief executive officer Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said the company aimed to increase the intakes (vehicles patronising its service centres) by 2.4% to 1.97 million from 1.92 million in 2014.

“Based on the expected rise, we expect revenue from the intakes to increase this year to RM306mil from RM303mil in 2014.

“We also aim to grow parts and accessories sales by 6.2% to RM258.9mil this year from RM243.7mil in 2014,” he told Bernama.

Aminar said Perodua sold 16,600 cars last month on the back of continued demand for the current models – Axia, Myvi and Alza.

He said the challenging sales target set earlier would be maintained and if ever there was a revision, it would be done in the middle of the year.

“So far, we have been blessed; bookings for Axia and the new Myvi are still coming in strong.

“We sold 16,600 units in January (2015) despite the challenging environment, and this could mark a 31% control in local market share,” said Aminar.

Perodua has earlier set a sales target of 208,000 units for 2015, a 6% improvement than the 195,600 units achieved in 2014, in its bid to retain its pole position as the most preferred compact car brand in Malaysia.

Beside enlarging capacity to handle more intake, Aminar said Perodua was considering selling pre-owned vehicles on its own, a move to further expand its downstream activities.

“We are looking for a place in the Klang Valley to set up our first pre-owned car centre, in which we intend to start selling the Perodua’s pre-owned units on our own, by the third quarter this year,” he said.

He also hinted at the launch of a new model soon.

“Three models in the line-up are simply not sufficient,” he said.

He, however, refused to elaborate on the new model and the launch. — Bernama
