The very official images of the brand new Maserati Alfieri sports car have leaked online ahead of the car’s official debut at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show 2014. While official details about the new Maserati sports car aren’t fully known, we can safely say that through it, the Italian marque hopes to create a fierce rival to the Jaguar F-Type.
There’s a possibility that the Maserati Alfieri is previewing an upcoming replacement to the current Maserati GranTurismo. However, due to its smaller size, it seems quite apparent that is more of a next-generation Maserati GranSport. Either way, the car is named after Alfieri Maserati who helped form the company with his brother.
Although presented as a concept in Geneva it follows in line with Maserati boss Harald Wester’s statement from early last year that Maserati is keen on creating a car to rival the Jaguar F-Type along with select Porsche 911 models. What better year to launch the car than during the company’s 100th anniversary!
It is very possible that when the Maserati Alfieri hits the production line, it’ll be available with V6 and V8 engine options currently utilised in the new Maserati Quattroporte and Ferrari California T.
