Driving licence for automatic cars in August

FINAL STAGE: Road Transport Department upgrading current syllabus to fit new system KUALA LUMPUR: THE much-anticipated driving licence for automatic-transmission vehicles is expected to be implemented nationwide in August.
Malaysian Driving Institute Association (Pima) president Mat Aris Bakar said the government had approved the new revised driving curriculum and the Road Transport Department (RTD) was finalising the implementation procedures.
The plan that was to have been implemented in May last year was delayed pending approval of an allocation to print relevant books and material for driving schools with the introduction of the new driving education curriculum.
Mat Aris said the association was pleased with the announcement by RTD director-general Datuk Ismail Ahmad about implementation of the new driving licence at a meeting last month.
"The industry is ready. We are prepared to implement the new curriculum and we are waiting for the final say from the government," said Mat Aris, who is also the managing director of Metro Driving Academy.
The implementation process, he said, would, however, take some time as the RTD needed to upgrade the current syllabus to fit the new system.
"We need to amend the Driving School Rules 1992, taking into consideration the automatic transmission vehicle driving test's requirements.
"For instance, it's a requirement for all learner drivers to learn how to balance the clutch and accelerator under the current rule. This is not applicable for those using automatic transmission vehicles."
He also said RTD officers needed to undergo training to efficiently monitor the automatic driving test, and driving school instructors needed to be trained in the new syllabus.
Mat Aris said since the decision to implement the system was made last year, Metro Driving Academy had received many queries from the public, who were keen to learn driving on automatic cars.
Commenting on the automatic transmission driving fees, he said driving lessons for automatic cars would be more expensive than manual cars as their price and maintenance costs were higher.
The government had previously said that the switch to automatic transmission vehicles was initiated to enable more Malaysians, especially the older generation, to obtain a valid driving licence.
Those who have a valid licence to drive automatic cars will not be allowed to drive manual cars. However, those holding a licence to drive manual cars can drive automatic cars as well.
The revised driving curriculum will have more safety-related driving elements and will emphasise on producing courteous and disciplined drivers, while the present curriculum emphasises on dexterity and comprehension of traffic rules.

manual still ade... cuma option je yg tak berani bwk manual.... ade lesen auto takleh bwk kereta manual.... ade lesen kereta manual bleh bawa dua2....

klau uji dua2 takyah la ade auto tu terus.... mmg aim pd yg taknak bwk manual....
yg pasti ...
ko bior betul...byk jer jejans yg gigeh pakai kete manual sbb nk pikap lagi power katanya...sedap nk berlumba kekdahnya....ipar aku tuh beli kete auto gigeh tukar manual sbb nk lumba..sengall...

ko bior betul...byk jer jejans yg gigeh pakai kete manual sbb nk pikap lagi power katanya...sedap ...
itu kategori lain la.... klau kat kl dgn jem nak berlumba apanya... tak lenguh ke?

bile dah panik, syllabus belajar dlu and muka ciku mengajar pon udah melayang |

elok la, kalu manual rasa2 ramai yg takut nk bawak kereta.
sebab auto, ramai yg dah boleh bawak kereta di atas jalan. (especially kaum wanita, walaupun lelaki ada jugak)
mudah utk wanita2 yg bwak anak2 ke sekolah, bawak anak2 kecik 2-3 org dalam kereta.
auto lebih tenang.. |
