Now that we already have the director, sudah sampai masanya thread Star War VII diwujudkan...

JJ Abrams officially confirmed to direct new 'Star Wars' movie

JJ Abrams has been officially confirmed as the director of Star Wars: Episode VII'.

Yesterday (January 25), news broke via Deadline, The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter that the Star Trek director was set to helm the new Star Wars movie. Lucasfilm has now confirmed that the rumours are true.

A statement, published on the official Star Wars website, read: "After a bevy of emails and phone calls, the formalities have been wrapped up, and at long last everyone can exhale and properly share the word with an excited Internet. Yes, JJ Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII."

Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, added: "JJ is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture."

Speaking about the appointment of his successor, Star Wars creator, George Lucas, said: "I've consistently been impressed with JJ as a filmmaker and storyteller. He's an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn't be in better hands."

The news comes as a surprise given Abrams' recent comments on the project. Last month, he told Empire he had turned down Star Wars "because of my loyalty" to Star Trek, adding: "I declined any involvement very early on. I'd rather be in the audience not knowing what was coming, rather than being involved in the minutiae of making them."

Disney has slated Star Wars: Episode VII for release in 2015 and hired Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt to pen the script. Back in October, the Mouse House announced plans to make a new trilogy of Star Wars films after buying Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion (£2.5 billion). George Lucas will serve as "creative consultant" on the new movies, but will not play a hands-on role in their development.

Meanwhile, Abrams' latest film Star Trek Into Darkness is set to open in cinemas worldwide on May 17. Abrams has helmed three previous movies: 2011's Super 8, 2009's Star Trek and 2006's Mission: Impossible III. He is also co-creator of numerous hit TV shows, including Lost, Alias and Fringe.

kalu betollaa setting 10 taun lepas ROTJ..maka MAY THE FARCE BE WITH YOU!..
sos cili :MAY THE FARCE BE WITH YOU!
kalau ikut novel, cerita seterusnya adalah Truce At Bakura

yang berlaku sebaek jer selesai Battle of Endor (Return of the Jedi). dan dikatakan/bayangkan membazir..kalu buat cerita watak jahat macam dinosaur (reptile like). Ada yang mencadangkan untuk disambung teruss cerita The Thrawn crisis tapi masalahnya dah overlap cerita pasal Leia kawin dengan Hans Solo (The Courtship of Princess Leia)....jadikk kiter tunggu dan lihat.

Lucasfilm Confirms Michael Arndt to Write 'Star Wars: Episode VII'

A day after THR reported news of the 'Toy Story 3' writer's treatment, confirmation of an in-progress screenplay is posted on StarWars.com.

A day after THR reported that Michael Arndt has been working with Lucasfilm for several months on a treatment for the new Star Wars movie, Lucasfilm has confirmed that the Toy Story 3 scribe will write the screenplay for Episode VII.

Arndt had written a 40- to 50-page treatment that will bring the saga of the Skywalkers, the Force-imbued family comprising Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and twins Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa, to a close in a new trilogy. The story is said to focus on a new generation of heroes and would feature appearances by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Warstrilogy.

Sources have said not to discount the possibility that a number of characters from previous Star Wars films could reappear — even the dead Jedis, who have a habit of showing up in spirit form.

The next step for Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy, who is overseeing the production of the new movies for Disney, is to hire a director. One name popping up consistently amongst insiders is Brad Bird, though insiders say no choice has been made and Bird already is working on another top-secret sci-fi project for the studio.

Arndt, repped by Verve, is described as a huge Star Wars fan and well-versed in the lore of the mythology. He won an Oscar for his script for Little Miss Sunshine and was nominated for his work on Toy Story 3, helping make the Pixar movie the most emotional of the three. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.

Harrison Ford To Return As Han Solo

OK, you can believe this now or you can wait for Disney to confirm it, but let’s just tell you that the source who dropped this scoop has got it right in the past. Repeatedly.

And they -- Latino-Review -- claim that Harrison Ford will be back as Han Solo in the new Star Wars films.

They can’t confirm whether he’s going to be in Episode VII, VIII and/or IX or the standalone films Disney are planning, but they can say with certainty that a deal with Harrison Ford is done, and that the 70-year-old actor who shot to fame in the original Star Wars trilogy will be back.

Reporter El Mayimbe of Latino-Review told Fox News: "Back in November Harrison Ford said he was open to the idea of returning as Han Solo, but it's official. Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars movies. It's huge. It hasn't been reported anywhere yet. He's officially coming back as Han Solo."

In other new, Ewan McGregor who played a young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequels says that he is game to return to the role. Ewan says that if Disney wanted to, they could probably tell the story of what happened to Kenobi after Revenge Of The Sith. He told MTV News: "That might be my window to tell that story. I don't know what he did in the desert. We could make up some stuff."
