Those killed in the accident were the driver of the car Mohd Richell alias Rachell Nyaring, 22, his 19-year-old wife Santi Abdullah, a one-year-old girl and a pair of twins.
The toddler was identified as Nur Raymie Abdullah while the twins were sisters Jamillah Ali, 24, and Jamayah, believed to be relatives of Richell and Santi.
The seriously injured were identified as Santi’s mother Janggah Hamiyah, 47, and Santi’s one-year-old son Rudi Minggat Abdullah.
A source disclosed that the victims were travelling from Engkilili to Sri Aman while the cement mixer truck was on its way from Sri Aman and the collision allegedly occurred when the car strayed into the opposite lane.
The truck driver escaped unhurt while the injured victims were admitted to the Sri Aman hospital.
The bodies are now at the mortuary of the same hospital pending post mortem.
Meanwhile, a check on the number of fatal accidents along the Pan Borneo trunk road this year showed that there were 16 fatal accidents resulting in 29 deaths from February till now.
The bulk of the tragedies occurred in Sri Aman and Bintulu divisions with seven fatal accidents occurring in each division.
The seven fatal collisions in Sri Aman claimed 16 lives while 11 people died in the accidents in Bintulu.
