The criticisms leveled against Spears are similar to those Madonna received at the start of her career. Indeed, Madonna's early fans belonged to a similar demographic to Spears' current fanbase. Spears' show-stealing kiss with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards received much media attention, as have her recent marriages. Her provocative image and, ironically, seemingly down-to-earth personality have both equally contributed to her success. Many have compared Spears to a young Madonna.

:loven 1999, Play Along Toys released the Britney Spears Fashion Doll. The doll featured Britney Spears with different outfits, make-up and hairstyles from her concerts, apperances, photoshoots and music videos. The doll quickly became one of the hottest toys of the year and holiday season. Millions of the dolls were sold and they were the first and biggest selling toy for Play Alongs Toys. The doll line went on to break all records for sales of an individual personality doll. After the Britney Spears Doll, more Celebrity dolls started to appear. Of course Britney wasn't the first, they were preceeded by the Spice Girls and New Kids on the Block.

The first time Britney Spears actually saw the doll she reportedly was furious. It was rumored that she thought it was "ugly". It was reported that she demanded her Britney Spears dolls be changed because, according to a British tabloid, they looked like a "bulldog chewing a wasp." As Britney reportedly reasoned, "I felt a bit bad about ordering changes but hey, it's my doll."
Yaboom Toys also made a singing Britney Spears doll that would "sing' when you pressed a button on her belly. The doll started to change over time, the face started looking different, with smaller eyes and a thinner nose. The dolls originally started out brunette, then the hair got darker, then over time it got blonder until it was completly blonde. Britney started to become more mature as time went on. The dolls weren't as hot as they used to be. Play Along discontinued the doll in 2002. The dolls are now collectables and can be found on Ebay. The success of the dolls, really helped put Britney's name on the map.

:love:Britney's Dance Beat for the PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance.Britney's Dance Beat is a one or two player music video game featuring songs and video appearances by Britney Spears. The story is that players must pass "auditions" to tour as Britney's dancers.

Gameplay involves pressing buttons in time with music. Symbols for buttons are arranged in a circle, resembling a clock dial. A pointer sweeps around the dial, indicating when to press each button.

The game contains only five songs: "...Baby One More Time", "Oops!... I Did It Again", "Stronger", "Overprotected" and "I'm A Slave 4 U". Successful play is rewarded with "backstage passes" which unlocks features such as backstage video footage of Britney.

1998-Hair Zone Mall Tour
This wasn't actually a real tour. This was Britney's record company's clever marketing campaign to get Britney's name out there. So Britney did small sets in malls and food stores around the US, mostly in big cities; this same marketing idea worked well for 1980's teen popstar Tiffany. This tour was also to promote Britney's upcoming debut album ...Baby One More Time. Britney's set was around 30 minutes and she had few dancers with her on the stage. Her record company says that this tour was to prepped Britney for her major tour. Instead of her own tour, Britney's next tour was for being opening act for boyband *NSYNC. Her perfomance was very much the same on that tour that it was on this one. This tour is sometimes titled as "L'Oreal Mall Tour", because L'Oreal sponsored this tour.

1999 ...Baby One More Time Tour
Britney Spears brought her whole band, dancers, and music to stages around the US and Canada for the first time in 1999. Numerous acts opened for Britney including Steps, Michael Fredo, and more. The concert went through almost her whole album. This tour proved that Britney really was a great performer, and many critics agreed that her dancing was better than her singing. Her performing was still, in this stage, very innocent. Her audience was mostly young girls and their parents. Her stage was basic: a center staircase with two ramps on the side, two circle platforms on the left and right, and a few fireworks.

2001/2002 Dream Within a Dream Tour
Considered her biggest spectacle, the tour was her 3rd solo event since opening for *Nsync.
The set for Spear's Dream Within A Dream Tour included a suspended moving stage, rain curtian, and a catwalk with a smaller stage at the end of it.
The show began with her performing Oops!... I Did It Again.During the performance Spears was attached to a rotating stage and did a 360 degree turn upside-down before moving onto the main stage and into a elaborate dance routine.
During the show Spears did many dance routines, acrobatics, and during her performance of I Love Rock 'N Roll she concluded it by bungie jumping off the suspended stage.
The show ended with Spears performing her hit ...Baby One More Time. During the performance it rained onstage as Spears sang a faster version of the song in a diamond studed bra. She ended the performance with her singing on the the suspended stage and jumping off and being suspened above the stage eventually being lowered down and exiting through a trap door.

Britney Spears On Broadway, Filming NASCAR Movie?

Britney Spears may in fact be taking a break from the recording studio, but could the new mom be headed for Broadway?

Access Hollywood reports that Britney is in 'deep talks' to make her Broadway debut in the current revival of "Sweet Charity."

Spears, the 23-year-old pop-mom would reportedly take over for Christina Applegate in the title role of the unlucky-in-love dancer, Charity, according to reports.

But Britney might not have the big stage all to herself.

Hubby Kevin Federline could be joining the show as well because producers are reportedly so interested in Britney that they are willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.


Ferrell outdrives Britney on NASCAR track

Will Ferrell recently got behind the wheel of a Stock Car, and what made him really happy was the fact that he beat Britney Spears.


Ferrell is preparing for a NASCAR-inspired comedy and recently went for a spin with Richard Petty at his driver's school for prospective riders.

"I did eight laps," the actor said, according to the Sporting News. "My top speed was 135."

Ferrell figures that makes him the winner.

"The goal was to beat Britney Spears," Ferrell said. "We heard Britney Spears had done 123. I was like, 'I can't lose to Britney.' That was the mantra."

The untitled movie reportedly began filming in Charlotte, N.C., last month and is to be released next summer. What isn't clear was whether or not Spears is in the movie with Ferrell.  A few years ago, Britney was to film a movie called "Trading Paint" but it never transpired.
