KUALA LUMPUR – Seorang pengemis yang menyamar memiliki kecacatan penglihatan bertempiaran lari apabila melihat kedatangan penguat kuasa Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) di Jalan Masjid India, di sini, petang tadi.
Ketika cuba diselamatkan penguat kuasa JKM, lelaki yang memegang tongkat sebagai orang buta itu terus berlari seperti orang yang sihat ke kawasan orang ramai sehingga gagal dikesan.
Sementara itu, seorang pengemis wanita warga Indonesia telah ditahan ketika membawa seorang bayi lelaki berusia 17 hari untuk memungut sedekah daripada orang ramai di Masjid Jamek Kampung Melayu, Kampung Baru, di sini.
Wanita berusia 24 tahun itu berkata, bayi tersebut yang lahir pada 14 Mac itu dibawanya sejak seminggu lalu selepas tamat tempoh pantang.
Jelasnya, dia kembali memasuki negara ini secara haram pada 2019 dipercayai menggunakan khidmat warga tempatan meskipun pernah dihantar pulang ke negara asalnya pada tahun 2018 akibat ditahan Imigresen di sekitar Kuala Lumpur.
Wanita warga Indonesia yang membawa bayi berusia 17 hari diselamatkan anggota JKM di sekitar Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, hari ini.
“Sehari dapat hampir RM100 tetapi belum ditolak kos pengangkutan datang ke sini (Masjid Jamek), pergi dan balik ke rumah dalam RM40 untuk grab. Saya tidak suka duduk di rumah, suami saya memang tak bagi saya mengemis tapi saya buat untuk cari duit lebih secara suka-suka,” katanya.
Dalam pada itu, seorang lelaki warga Sri Lanka berusia 50-an menjadi ‘juara’ pungutan wang terbanyak dalam masa sebulan dengan angka sekitar RM8,500.
Bagaimanapun, lelaki tersebut yang memasuki Malaysia melalui pas lawatan sosial sejak 1 Mac lalu memberi alasan dirinya menetap di sebuah masjid sekitar Kuala Lumpur dan mendapat pendapatan tersebut hasil jual cincin batu di sekitar Masjid India.
Kesemua pengemis ini ditahan di dalam Operasi Pembasmian Aktiviti Pengemis di Sekitar Bandar Raya Kuala Lumpur membabitkan kakitangan JKM yang bermula pada pukul 6 petang sehingga 8 malam hari ini.
Ketua Pengarah JKM, Norazman Othman berkata, seramai 16 orang ditahan membabit 10 warga asing dan 6 warga tempatan di bawah Akta Orang-Orang Papa 1977 (Akta 183).
“Kesemua ditahan berusia 17 hari sehingga 55 tahun dibawa ke Pejabat JKM Kuala Lumpur untuk tindakan seterusnya dan jumlah rampasan operasi ini adalah sebanyak RM9,668 dan 255 Riyal Dirham.
“Kami akan menggiatkan operasi ini secara berkala dan bersepadu namun memerlukan persediaan yang lebih rapi, usaha ini berterusan dari semasa ke semasa dan menyasarkan bulan Ramadan bagi operasi yang seterusnya.
“Ibu negara sudah menjadi bertaraf bandar raya dan hal ini menyebabkan golongan tempatan dan warga asing menjana pendapatan melalui mengemis,” ujarnya.
