Najib makes time to listen to 1Malaysia song entries

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took time off from his busy schedule to listen to entries submitted for a 1Malaysia song contest.

He said he had returned to his office one Saturday and spent more than an hour listening to all the 10 entries which made it to the final of the Our 1Malaysia Song contest.

“That is how interested I was in this contest,” he told reporters after the winner was announced here yesterday.

Najib, who had initiated the contest, pointed out that the winning number Malaysia Satu had an upbeat rhythm, which Malaysians, especially young people, could relate to.

“We can have it performed at official functions and international dos. But maybe we can modify it a bit as some of the notes are high.

“I don’t think we can sing it that way (like the singer can),” he said in jest.

Asked if he liked the winning song and which of the 10 songs had been his personal pick, Najib said:

“I can’t say which. The rakyat has chosen and I respect their choice”.

The Prime Minister said he was pleasantly suprised with public response for the contest as more than 350 entries were received.

“I hope that with the appropriate song picked, it will help the public in the process of ‘oneness’ or togetherness.

“I hope that through the contest, I will have better interaction with the rakyat as this is a song for the people, created by the people and chosen by the people,” he said.

Najib said he hoped the public would “get hooked” to the song, adding that the selection process was “something new and unconventional”.

“I told the Cabinet today (yesterday) there will be two 1Malaysia songs – one that was initiated by the Information, Communications, Culture and Arts Ministry and also this one,” he said.

Tu lah..konsep 'satu' tapi lagu dah lebih dari satu...alaaa kat YouTube pun berlambak lagu 1Malaysia yg tak official

konsep 1malaysia nih adalah disadur daripada konsep yg  DAP perkenalkan dari malaysian malaysia...

I was in location X.....where majority of the people there is Indian.
and then here came an apek........I cudn't heard him at first......bunyik die ckp mcm2 gitu je....
