Synopsis Late for a meeting, Kotoko was running along the corridor in schooland bumped into Naoki, their lips meeting. Naoki showed his disgust,but Kotoko started to idolise him, who was good at everything fromstudies to sports. When Kotoko's house burned down, her father's goodfriend Machiko invited them to move in with her family. It was thenthat Kotoko realised Naoki was the elder son of Machiko, who took upthe role of a fairy-godmother to bring the two together...despite thefact that Naoki was disgusted. Not discouraged, the clumsy andnot-so-bright Kotoko started to do everything that would change herimpression on him. Gradually, the icy-cold Naoki who disliked girlsstarted to feel for Kotoko

Irie Naoki(Kashiwabara Takashi) in 'A' class,has an IQ of 200 and is the genius of the school, and most probably the whole of Japantoo. He always gets full marks for all his tests and his name never fails to be the Number1 on the scoreboard (except one time when he purposely hands in a blank script). Beingall-rounded, he is the star player of the basketball school team too. Undoubtedly, he alsohappens to be the most popular guy in the school.
In the beginning, Naoki is quite moody andkeeps very much to himself. It is also quite difficult to truly interprete his realfeelings. He doesn't smile often and even appears arrogant in the beginning, especially inthe first episode. Most of the time, he surveys the happenings around him with muchindifference. He seems to treat Reiko just like an ordinary friend instead of anythingbeyond that. He also likes to call Kotoko 'baka' and asserts that they can neverunderstand each other. Because he can excel in everything hedoes, the lack of dreams has given him much distress. When he was in high school, he triedto steal a CD just to make himself feel 'normal'.
