Pearce backs Wenger's Theo judgement
England Under-21 coach and Fabio Capello’s assistant Stuart Pearce has given a ringing endorsement to Arsene Wenger.
Pearce believes that loan moves have vastly improved the quality of the young stars in his squad, and the former England international has previously stated his belief that Theo Walcott needs a run of games under his belt, something he has failed to achieve to any extent at Arsenal.
However, Pearce is adamant that Wenger knows what is best for the 18-year-old and has faith the Frenchman will make the right choices for Walcott’s future.
"Without a doubt it (going on loan) helps," said Pearce. "It all adds to their experience. If they're not playing at their individual clubs, maybe that might be a route they take.
"I think the main driver they need is to get in there and play first team football as much as they possibly can.
"That applies to anybody but there's one man who will know what's best for Theo and that's Arsene.
"It's in his interest to make sure that he's got a fantastic young player, who is extremely young at this moment in time, that's got good experience - bear in mind he's been to a World Cup."
Walcott is expected to spearhead Pearce’s side’s attack in their play-off against Republic of Ireland on Tuesday evening, a game in which a win would seal their place in the 2009 European Championships.
Despite his lack of regular action Pearce still fully expects the former Southampton youngster to shine on his old stomping ground in front of a sell-out crowd.
"I don't see it that he's dropped back at all this season," said Pearce.
"He's started every match for me in the Under-21s which is a bonus.
"On top of that he's started quite a few games for Arsenal so I think it's all part of his development.
"I know full well if you take Theo out of Arsenal and put him in a lesser side somewhere he'll start every week.
"But he's playing for one of the top sides in the world so he's not going to start every week." |

it's not like MU tu tak rely on negro players. On the pitch, colours are off. Cuma dlm porem nih kekadang gurau melampau...from which ever angle laa. Liverpool are known as fools, MU known as setan, Chelsea known as tenuk, Arsenal known as ARSEngal...but to me if anyone here cannot tahan dibako, then just sit back and talk abt yr own club and jgn buat reference kat clubs lain. Cth mcm manraj, dexa...depa berporum (kat bolatalk) cara aman and mind thier own business.
Contoh...some ppl say "eleh, panggil tenuk tu bukannya apa sangat...." Tp macam abe stats dulu cakap, nak tengok marah tak marah cuba kalo org cakap "Muka bapak ko macam tenuk?"
pendek kata...membako itu biasa. How serious it is is actually perception.
again, kalo tak buleh dibako, jangan membako.
