Drogba injury rocks Chelsea

A knee injury to Didier Drogba could force Chelsea into the winter market for a new striker.
The Times says the Ivory Coast striker had a scan yesterday that revealed degeneration in his left meniscus, which requires surgery. A decision on whether to operate immediately or patch him up in the hope of getting him through the Christmas period will be made in the next few days.
Although there is a temptation to keep Drogba going with the aid of painkilling injections until January, when he will be unavailable because of the African Cup of Nations, the 29-year-old is unwilling to sacrifice his international ambitions in such a manner and the club's medical department do not want to risk his long-term health for the sake of a few Barclays Premier League appearances.

Joaquin does not regret Blues snub
Valencia winger Joaquin has revealed he does not have any regrets over rejecting a huge offer from Chelsea in order to move to the Mestalla.
The winger was lured away from Real Betis in the summer of 2006, with Valencia beating off serious competition from The Premier League to land the Spaniard.
Joaquin has endured a mixed time at Valencia and was frustrated to see the club's fans turn on the players during the recent defeat to Athletic Bilbao.
The club also crashed out of the Champions League recently, but Joaquin does not regret joining the Che despite receiving a mega offer from Chelsea.
