Britney Spears will be the opening act for this year's VMA's

MTV News can now confirm what may well be one of the worst-kept VMAsecrets of all time: On Sunday night, Spears will grace the VMA stage,nestled within the Palms Casino Resorts' Pearl Concert Theater, toperform "Gimme More," the first single from her forthcoming fifthalbum, which is slated for a November 13 release (see "Britney Spears'Greatest VMA Hits: Barely There Costumes, Giant Snakes And A ScandalousLip-Lock"). The yet-untitled effort will be her first studio LP in fouryears, following 2003's In the Zone.

Perhaps in homage to theglittery magic of Las Vegas, Spears consulted with illusionist CrissAngel, star of A&E's "Mindfreak," on "some of the moments of theperformance," said Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer of thisyear's VMAs. Spears has been spotted around Sin City in recent weekswith Angel at her side, and there is unsubstantiated speculation thatthe two are romantically involved.

Ignjatovic said it was important to secure Spears for the big show's opening number.

"Iguess, looking back, we've had a great history with her," he said."Some of the biggest TV performances [of her career] have been at theVMAs. And fortunately, [when we approached her about performing], shewas into it and excited to do it. I wanted her to come on and make astatement right from the very beginning of the show. And she'll killit. I wanted to start the show in a very big and dramatic way, andshe's the one to do that. She'll captivate everyone, and set the tonefor the rest of the night. There's no one better."

As for what we can expect from Ms. Spears, Ignjatovic wouldn't give up the goods, but promised fans would be thrilled.

Are you kidding me? Britney x laku? Britney x buat music dah bape tahun dah, and people already MISS her music. So now she's finally got a NEW single, and it got positive feedback from a lot of peoples and critique. So x laku aper? The right way to say it is "Britney's back now". Dier baru je release one song now, blum 2nd or 3rd single lagie. She WILL get famous again, trust me. I mean she is BRITNEY SPEARS. Got lots of fanbase. That's why they choose Britney to open the VMA show.

Anyway, I really can't wait to see Britney performance at the VMA!

saya belum dengar lagu Gimme More tu lagi, kalau sedap mungkin popularity
si britney tu naik semula. tapi macam biasalah setiap album britney kecuali yang
first one tu only 1-2 singles yang best but the rest not so good like junkies

OMG .. I totally disagree with U .. Why ?? B'cuz I think that Brit nye fanbase masih kukuh .. in fact ... Single baru "Gimme More" tu pasti dpt menaikkan namer dier ..

Aq x raser namer dier makin jatuh .. waktu si Brit jadik Surprise presenter kat AMA 2006 last year pun crowds masih menjerit terpekik terlolong ala2 menyokong Brit ..
