Absolutely true! Life is like stringging the guitar. Too low it produces stinging noise, too strong it will snap and a correct one it gives good sound melody. Middle way my friend.

Simple life..............to me it's keeping your physical needs to minimal, emotional needs within easy control and spiritual demand rather high in order to keep the earlier two under check. A very relative thing I might say.
Keeping financial needs minimal - standard may be deemed to be what is the norm in your society. Definitely, keeping up with the Joneses is off limits. However, a little luxury(some may nor percieve them as such) as having a TV or a PC may be acceptable in our society as they are usually available in any average household.
Should there be 'financial freedom'(refer Sonofodin)? Well need to define it first I think. But if you mean free from financial slavery(refer thamrong) I would agree........spend within your means plus afford savings i.e do not spend all you have.
Keeping emotional needs within easy control - This is the unseen side of a person and is usually easily forgotten. Man is an emotional entity. However if it is easy to keep it under check, you would find no compulsion to demand or require excessive physical comfort or comfort of other nature.
Spiritual demand is high - I am taking a gamble here.....All that moderation must cause the essence to divert it's focus on other 'issues' i.e. finding more fulfillment/meaning to life through more contemplation for example. Once the spirit is willing then it would be easier to handle all your other needs. |
