the book or the movie?

Which movie or made for TV movies do you think came close to the original story (from the books that they were adapted)?
Do you prefer the book or the movie?

eg. The lord of the rings trilogy by Tolkien ....the movie complements the book. Although not 100% according to the book's story line but it was pretty good.

eg. Harry potter's series.  The movies are good but there are lots of things not shown in the movies. Reading the books is much more enjoyable then watching the movies.

eg. The Da vinci Code. The movie was bad...thumbs down.:@

Well it upsets me a lot when I see a movie which was adapted from a particular book that I have read and it was not as what I have imagined it would be.
The last movie I saw was Eragon and for those who have read the book and saw the movie, I am sure you will agree with me if I say that the movie sucks big time.

The book. Period.

filem/drama cuma boleh kasi gambaran ringkas je sebab mana muat nak masukkan semua dalam citer...kadang2 lakon layar mmg lari terus dari dari citer asal kat buku...ada adegan yg ditambah2....ada buku klasik di adaptasi ke drama & diberi pendekatan moden memasukkan adegan2 yg tak dibuat oleh org pada zaman tu...tgk jugak la...kalau stephen king aku suka filem sebab tak payah baca description yg panjang2 dalam buku...just tgk visual yg dipaparkan...dasar pemalas

sesetengah filem/drama boleh menjadikan kita tertarik untuk baca buku tu....tapi aku prefer buku lebih bagus sebab menjana pemikiran& imaginasi ...kalau aku tertengok dulu filem/drama aku akan gi cari bukunya....tapi ada jugak yg aku baca buku dulu then tgk drama utk tgk sejauhmana kandungan buku tu diadaptasi ke layar

:setuju:  horror stories tengok movie is much better. vision and sound penting untuk memberi suasana seram. But again sometimes kalau baca buku cerita seram sorang ditempat yang menyeramkan pun boleh takut juga.

LOTR- i prefer the movie since the books are hard to understand
harry potter - i like both
da vinci code - the movie is bad, i prefer the book
the devil wears prada - i prefer the movie
some books are not easy to understand and by watching the movies i can see what the author trying to tell like harry potter itself. i cant imagine the quidditch game or platform 9and3/4 and the movie help me to understand it

Harry Potter - prefer the movies...if I read the book, I will sleep half way through...

yup, horror sci-fi fantasy cam star wars, star trek, LOTR, harry potter kadang2 lagi bess ada sound efek...pasai semua extra effect kalu nak describe penin pala nak faham those background setting...kalau the making of selalunya production designer + pengarah, etc akan citer derang baca berkali2 buku asal utk memastikan description yg derang transfer ke filem/drama tu betul...even the casting process pun kena make sure menepati description watak2 dalam buku...sebab tu kadang2 aku frus jugak kalau apa yg tgk dalam moving picture tak sama ngan yg aku imagine bila baca buku....mungkin sebab tu moving pictures dikatakan telah membunuh daya imaginasi & kreativiti penonton sebab bila dah tgk tak yah imagine apa2 dah kan...nampak depan mata saja...berbanding dgn baca buku kita kena try imagine suasananya....n sometimes pelakon pulak nampak cam gagal menghayati watak dia...setakat ni antara adaptasi buku melayu yg bess bagi aku adalah citer seorang tua di kaki gunung , ranjau sepanjang jalan

definitely books esp complicated stories like The Da Vincci Code, Angela's Ashes and some others...
somehow the adaptation into movies tak bape best...

the best thing about reading book is that ur imagination is unlimited, korang bleh bayangkan mcm2 tapi kalo tgk movies smcm dah diberi kongkongan utk imagination. tu jer yang tak best...
tapi kebaikan movies ni ialah utk rendering terbaik kalo kita tak paham buku cerita tuh, misalkata stories yang beyond our understanding either cultural differences or technology complicatedness, movies mampu memberi visual yang sebenar sbb directors + script writers dah buat research.

tapi bagi aku.....books are the best

depends la...kalau pernah jumpa bukunya dulu mungkin buku, dan begitulah sebaliknya.

suke baca buku lagik, dari tgk muvi..sbb bile baca buku, leh tau ape dalam pikiran character tu, unlike muvi, bile pelakon tu termenung, kengkadang tak tau apsal die termenung..hhehee...

i would always prefer the book because kat situ unlimited picture we can get kan .. where as kalau kat movie ... kadang2 not even to th eexpectation .. hehe

aku prefer books dari movie..
cth klau harry potter kan buku dier mmg detail....seronok sgt bace buku dier
tp movie ni membantu kite bayangkan part2 yg kite x fhm dlm buku 2...
cth wkt quiditch ngan wktu harry lwn ngan naga 2.
lg 1 part yg die masuk dlam air jmpe ngan puak duyung.

dora prefer baca buku..then bari tgk movie utk banding n lebih memahami..macam harry potter..banyak sangat plot yang tak cover..seronok lagi baca buku..rasa best jer..kalu LOTR plak..memang baca buku tu..amat mangantuk..susah sket nak habis..rasa makan masa tahun gak nak habis walaupun masa baru2 beli berkobar2 nak baca..

book...most of the time the book gives us more details and the real storyline...so it becomes more interesting...

- the nanny diaries
- Devil wears prada
- Montana Sky
