David Beckham says he called good friend Tom Cruise before accepting a multi-million dollar contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy, Reuters reports.

"Obviously I asked him for his advice because he is a verywise man and a very good friend of mine," Beckham told journalistsabout his two phone calls with Cruise. "It's going to be a big help forus to have friends when we arrive in L.A."

Beckham, 31, who had been discussing contract renewal withhis current team Real Madrid, has experienced a slight career slump inthe last year, losing the captain slot of the English team in lastsummer's World Cup. He announced Thursday that he and his family wouldmove to Los Angeles after her finishes playing in Madrid this season.

"After discussing several options with my family and mybusiness advisers I have decided to join (the) L.A. Galaxy and play inthe MLS (Major League Soccer) from August," Beckham said in astatement.

And Beckham and wife Victoria will be a welcome addition tothe Los Angeles scene. The couple has already become quite close withTom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes. The Beckham's attended their Rome wedding in November and have dined with the newlyweds in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile last fall, Victoria Beckham took a trip to Paris with Katie Holmes to scope out French Fashion week.

"They both love Los Angeles," a Beckham family friend tellsPEOPLE. "It will be good for their careers, they adore the lifestyle,the weather and it would be brilliant for their boys."

aku rasa ok ajer dia pindah ke sana... tiap2 bulan dah dpt USD 4 juta, bila si posh bukak butik rekaan baju sendiri ker apa ker.. mesti gerenti org beli punya..... tak luak pun duit dier.....lagipun kalau cakap pasal career dia, beckham ni memang product yg lengkap.... contoh: beckham sumer org minat, dr peminat bola, metrosexual, gol. pompuan dll............

p/s: aku pun minat beckham walaupun tak minat bola.... :love:

beckham goes from man united to real madrid and then to.....L.A galaxy   yg khabarnya ranking team tu mcm teams division II di english premier league. dari man u ke madrid mmg membanggakan..but end up with L.A. galaxy in the end. heh. well then at least he's more of a celebrity now..
