Post time 30-12-2006 04:58 PM | Show all posts |Read mode
Hi, I am trying to compile a list of female comics characters to setup a informational site. Please help with  contribute to this thread and see how many we can get.

I will post the first one :

SHI by William Tucci (Crusade Comics)

"Shi", whose real name is "Ana Ishikawa", was born of a Japanese father and American mother. When Ana was 10 years-old, she witnessed the brutal slaying of her entire family. Ana is consequently spirited away and raised by her grandfather, Yo#ora, a descendant of the Sohei, the great warrior monks of medieval Kyoto.

Yo#ora secretly trains Ana in the ways of the Sohei so that she could seek out her family's murderer and avenge her family's honor.

This vengeful obsession consumes Ana's very being, as she transforms herself to "Shi" - the living embodiment of Death, who since childhood, has terrified and yet encouraged her in her crusade of vengeance.

However, Ana is soon confronted by her mother's Catholic teachings and Ana's life soon becomes one of inner conflict between her programmed mission of revenge and the Christian leanings she secretly harbors.

Ironically, it is this duality that rages in Ana's soul that will not permit her to succumb to the death demon that terrorizes her. In the end, it is Ana's faith and the ethereal visions of her gallant Sohei ancestors that shepherd her along the Way of the Warrior.

History
Zealot's real name is Lady Zannah of Khera. Like the other Kherubim on Earth, Zannah and her daughter Kenesha (who at the time believed Zealot was actually her sister) were stranded thousands of years ago when their Explorer ship crashlanded after a battle with a Daemonite warship. Zealot just survived thanks to her lover, Stratos, who put her in an escape pod. Zannah and the other survivors were scattered, forced to hide themselves amongst the human population. Their enemies had likewise been forced down, and though less humanoid, the Daemonites used their powers of possession and shapeshifting to blend in too. For the next few millennia, a secret war raged, with the Kherubim defending the vulnerable and oblivious humans from their would-be conquerors.

Zannah took the name Zealot when she formed a sisterhood of warriors, known as The Coda, on earth. She fought with them for many years, even leading the group for a while. However, an incident occurred in Troy (presumably during the Trojan War), causing her to be branded a traitor and expelled from the order. She arranged for the Coda to help the Greeks conquer Troy in exchange for 99 female babies to be raised as new coda. She helped Ulysses conceive of the trojan horse and stationed Coda warriors inside it. During the fighting she decided that the killing of all of the unarmed women and children of Troy was going too far, so she saved the life of the royal family. In doing so it was decided by her fellow Coda that she had betrayed the precepts of the Coda. She was engaged in combat by her closest friend, whom she beat, but refused to kill. This was considered by the friend a mortal insult. The two violations of Coda precepts made her a lifetime (in their case nearly immortal lifetimes) enemy of the Coda. Subsequent to this event, Zealot spent a century serving the witch known as Tapestry. She did this as payment for Tapestry saving Kenesha's life after having been poisoned. During this period Tapestry tried to brainwash Zealot to her way of thinking, but although Zealot was changed by her time working for the witch, she managed to retain her true self inside. During her stay with Tapestry though, Zealot became a proficient weilder of magics. The magic taught though was dark magic and soul corrupting. Because of this Zealot swore never to use it again, but had to break her promise when she battled Tapestry many years after her original servitude.

For a period in the 20th century, Zealot lived in America and went by the name Lucy Blaize. During this time she worked for the US Government and went on to become a member of the ill-fated Team One, with fellow Kherubim Mr. Majestic (the father of Savant) and Lord Emp.

Years later, Zealot formed a close relationship with Cole Cash, and took the unprecedented step of training him, a man, in the ways of the Coda; he became the superhuman known as Grifter. Later both of them joined the WildC.A.T.s. She served with them for a number of years, though she also briefly joined Wildcore during a period when the rest of the WildC.A.T.s were believed dead.

At one point Zealot was believed dead, when in fact she was captured and sentenced to death by Earth's Coda Sisterhood. While captured she was tortured to near death multiple times. It was her old friend Grifter (in control of the android Ladytron) and his ragtag group of warriors that later came to her rescue.

Once more on the loose she had to team up alongside Mr. Majestic yet again to fight an evil plot from the Shapers Guild to recreate Kherubim on Earth (using a device known as the planet shaper). Not long after, Zealot has teamed up with many former Wildcat members, such as Grifter and Majestic, to fight Zealot's long time rival, Nemesis.

Currently Zealot is still with many of her ex-Wildcat teammates in an as of yet unofficial form of the group as they fight with Captain Atom.

Fathom of Elemental ( Comico Press)

Fathom of Elemental (Comico Press)

Core Concept
When a centuries-old sorcerer named Lord Saker built a machine called the Shadowspear to harness the supernatural powers of the world, he upset the natural order of the universe. The four elements, unimaginably powerful spirits who together formed the foundation of existence, each chose an ordinary human who had been killed by their element, and resurrected him or her. They granted each control of that particular element, eternal youth, and the ability to heal from any wound (given sufficient time). These four were the Elementals, sent to oppose Saker.

The team consisted of:

Morningstar, aka Jeanette Crane, a Los Angeles homicide detective who had burned to death while confronting a serial arsonist; she received various fire-related abilities, including pyrokinesis and an immunity to fire.

Vortex, aka Jeff Murphy, an Army pilot who was asphyxiated in a helicopter crash; he received various air-related abilities, including flight and wind-blasts.

Fathom, aka Becky Golden, a flighty debutante who fell off a boat and drowned; she received various water-related abilities, as well as bright green skin and webbed fingers. She was also able to convert her body entirely into sentient water and shoot high-pressure streams.

Monolith, aka Tommy Czuchra, a brilliant if introverted teenaged boy who was crushed to death by a rockslide; he received the ability to become an enormous super-strong stone/earth golem. Later Tommy came to follow Saker's view that the supernatural beings were entitled to be in charge acoss earth, and he quit the Elementals and absorbed some of Saker's 'black' magic, to become one of his generals. Monolith was then re-embodied in a deceased insurance salesman (Donald Ridgeway), who neither wanted the power, nor ever understood fully how to use it or how to integrate with the other three Elementals.

The four eventually defeated Saker and his minions, the Destroyers, a team of six: Shapeshifter, Annihilator, Chrysalis, Behemoth, Ratman (who later changed sides), and Electrocutioner. (The Destroyers and an early version of Saker known as Doctor Apocalypse originally appeared in Death Duel with the Destroyers and The Island of Dr. Apocalypse, two Willingham-written supplements for the superhero game Villains and Vigilantes.) Unfortunately, Shadowspear was released, forming a giant malevolent thunderstorm that circled the globe, occasionally transforming animals and corpses into monsters, thus keeping the Elementals busy for many years.

Ms. Victory (AC Comics)

Ms. Victory (AC Comics)

Miss Victory (later known as Ms. Victory) is a comic book superheroine. Although her origins go back to the 1940s, she is now best known as a central character in the current Femforce comic published by A.C. Comics.

The original Miss Victory began her career during World War II, as one of the many comic book costumed crimefighters who went to make up the Golden Age of Comic Books. She appeared in Captain Fearless Comics #1 [1]and #2; and Captain Aero Comics #6-17, #21-26. Miss Victory was secretly stenographer Joan Wayne, whose work in a Government department, coupled with her desire to help the war effort, led her to don the patriotic guise of Miss Victory: a tight fitting red white and blue costume with plunging neck line and V emblem across her chest.

Along with hordes of other Superman-inspired patriotic crimefighters, Miss Victory had no formal origin story nor introduction. She also had no actual super powers - just her determination to see good vanquish evil.

Like almost all her costumed counterparts, she vanished once the interest in superhero comics started to tail off at the end of the 1940s. This was not the end of Miss Victory; decades later she was revived by AC Comics and re-invented for a modern comic book audience.

The new Miss Victory possesses superhuman strength, together with the ability to fly (although only over short distances). Her true identity is Dr. Joan Wayne, a research scientist in the United States Department of Defense, who in the 1940s developed the "V-formula" to increase the strength/stamina of allied troops. The formula, however, only worked on Joan herself, and she became a superheroine. The formula also prevented her from aging, so that the Ms. Victory of 2004 (who is over 80 years old) is still a young, attractive woman.

In the mid 1990s, Joan Wayne temporarily resigned her leadership of Femforce, and was replaced by her grown-up daughter Jennifer (the only other person on whom the V-formula would work). Jennifer is usually referred to as "The Second Ms. Victory".

The Black Cat by Alfred Harvey

The Black Cat was Hollywood starlet Linda Turner, whose first adventure began when she suspected her director of being a Nazi spy. Trained as a stunt woman, she was an expert on Judo, motorcycle riding, lariat throwing, and other physical skills costumed crime fighters find handy; and her father, an amateur detective, had taught her the necessary mental skills. Knowing her superstitious quarry had a "thing" about black cats, she used that as a theme for her disguise. After smashing his spy ring, she combatted boredom with her glamorous but empty lifestyle by continuing to fight crime as The Black Cat.
The Black Cat debuted in Pocket Comics #1, dated August, 1941, in a story drawn and probably written by Al Gabriele (Sub-Mariner, Miss America). That anthology comic book was, as the name implies, small enough to be carried around in the back pocket of a pair of jeans; thus, it was possible to make it 100 pages thick, at the same price as any other comic. Apparently, however, it was also possible to "pocket" it without paying. Newsstand owners objected, and the title lasted only four issues. The Black Cat was among the few characters to survive its demise, transferring to Speed Comics a couple of months later. She was Harvey's most popular wartime character

Yes, I own the site. I actually just launched it before Christmas. Was working on uploading my inventory onto the database until the Streamyx problems arose few days back. I am scanning the comics at the moment and hopefully the connection can ghet back to normal soon so I can upload the others titles.

I do not have a storefront, the imported comics is kinda niche in Penang. Overhead to have a storefront can be too high to cover. I am located in Penang. Any order from Penang island can be COD though. (I have to take this opportunity to advertise my store.. hehehe lol...

By the way, I am wondering what is the uses of the credits we gain by posting? I tried to search every places, but still cannot find answer.

Thanks.

If the credits are useful, I am planning to put some comics up for exchange for them. In one hand I can get some credits upgrade, in another I get advertisement of  my new store.  As the moderator, what do you think?

Currently, I do not have much TPB in stock. What I am specialised in is back issues of the monthly comics. I have some very nice golden age comics in my collection though. I will post later.
Thanks.

Thanks.

She Hulk (Marvel Comics)

She Hulk (Marvel Comics)

She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters-Jameson) is a Marvel Comics superheroine. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist John Buscema, she first appeared in Savage She-Hulk #1 (February 1980).

Promotional Art by Adi Granov

She-Hulk has been a member of both the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. A highly skilled lawyer, she has served as legal counsel to various superheroes on numerous occasions.

Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner (The Incredible Hulk), is the small and somewhat shy daughter of Los Angeles County Sheriff Morris Walters. Agents of Nicholas Trask, a crime boss who had crossed paths with her father, shot and seriously wounded her on a day that Bruce Banner happened to be in town for a visit. Since no donors of her blood type were available, Banner provided blood for a transfusion; his radioactive blood transformed Jennifer into the green-skinned She-Hulk.

As She-Hulk, Jennifer possessed powers similar to those of her cousin, though at a reduced level. She also possessed a less monstrous, more amazonian appearance. Jennifer's early adventures were chronicled in the 1980 Marvel Comics series The Savage She-Hulk which, following the first issue, were written by David Anthony Kraft.

Although initially uncontrolled while in her form as She-Hulk, she eventually gained the same levels of intelligence she possessed as Jennifer Walters. By the time of the character's first anniversary, she had made a guest appearance in Spidey Super Stories, and was lucid enough to encourage the Rhino to seek a fair trial for an alleged crime he had committed. Jennifer Walters quickly came to appreciate the confidence and assertiveness that came with being She-Hulk. At this point in her character development, she felt more comfortable in her form as She-Hulk than in her "normal" form as Jennifer. After a brief solo career, she joined The Avengers, and temporarily replaced the Thing in the Fantastic Four.

Avengelyne (Maximum Press)

Avengelyne (Maximum Press)

Avengelyne is a comic book character created by Rob Liefeld and originally published in 1995 by Maximum Press. By the end of the 1990s, Avengelyne had enjoyed a short stint at Avatar Press and a shorter stint at Awesome Entertainment prior to the Avatar run.

Avengelyne is an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons, monsters, and the like. The original character design for Avengelyne was based on former Vampirella model Cathy Christian.
Avengelyne was the most feared warrior in Heaven's Warhost, having single-handedly broken into Pandemonium, the outer fortress of Hell, to confront the Devil himself. She is a fallen angel, banished from Heaven by God after being tricked into questioning His love for humans. Avengelyne was stripped of all her angelic abilities, other than her great strength and her blood, which, once extracted from her body, could be used as a weapon or a miracle once empowered by quoting verses from the Bible. Although He appeared truly angry, God was trying to prepare Avengelyne for a coming war for which she would need to be strengthened.

Keeping her faith in the Lord even on Earth, Avengelyne began to fight the demons she found while there. Eventually, one of her enemies, the demon lord B'Liale, sent a demon, Kyle Wagner, to seduce Avengelyne and father a powerful demon child. God sent Passover, the Angel of Death, to kill Avengelyne for her involvement, but the child, Magog, was born prior to the angel's arrival, and so together Passover and Avengelyne drove the demon-spawn away.

Seeing her devotion to Him was still strong, God allowed Avengelyne to live, and she still fights demons on Earth. Eventually, when Armageddon occurs, Avengelyne will lead Heaven's Warhost, with Passover as her second-in-command.

Vampirella (Harris Comics)

Vampirella (Harris Comics)

Vampirella is a fictional character, a comic book vampire heroine created by Forrest J. Ackerman for Warren Publishing's namesake black-and-white horror-comics magazine, and developed by Archie Goodwin with artists Frank Frazetta and Tom Sutton.

After appearing in Warren magazines from 1969-1983, Vampirella was sold to Harris Comics, which has been publishing her in various series and miniseries since 1991.

Vampirella was originally presented as an inhabitant of the planet Drakulon, a world where people lived on blood and where blood flowed in rivers. Drakulon orbited twin suns, Satyr and Circe, with the former erupting at irregular intervals to destroy all life on the planet. As the effects of the explosion wane, a new civilisation begins. The race of which Vampirella was born, the Vampiri, were able to transform themselves into bats at will, sprout wings when required, and drink blood.

The story begins with the inhabitants of Drakulon being destroyed slowly by Satyr's latest eruption. The last few lie dying when a spaceship from Earth crashes on the planet. Vampirella, sent to investigate, is attacked; retaliating, she discovers that the astronauts have blood in their veins. In order for her race to survive, she manages to pilot the ship back to Earth where her adventures begin. Vampirella becomes a "good" vampire, and devotes her energy to ridding our world of the homegrown "evil" kind.

Harris Comics revived Vampirella in the miniseries Morning In America, written by Kurt Busiek. Soon thereafter, Vampirella was established as being brainwashed by her sister and brother ( in the story "Mystery Walk" ) and led to believe she was from the planet Drakulon. She learned that she was, in fact, the daughter of Lilith, the first wife of Adam from the Book of Genesis. Lilith would not submit before Adam and was cast out of Eden. She mated with demons in hell, giving birth to vampires who would kill the offspring of Adam and Eve on Earth. Later, she sought redemption from God and gave birth to Vampirella, whom she sent to Earth to kill all evil vampires. According to this account, Drakulon was a part of Hell where Lilith lived and ruled.

Glory by Rob Liefeld (Image Comics)

Glory is a fictional character from the Image Comics comic book series created by Rob Liefeld. The character's full name is Gloriana Demeter, a half-Amazon, half-Demon warrior. The character was clearly meant to be a version of Wonder Woman in the Image universe, especially given the ties to mythology.

Glory was the result of an alliance between the Lady Demeter of the Amazonians and the demon Lord Silverfall of the Underworld against the human world. Raised in her mother's world and trained by the Amazonians, she emerged as their finest warrior. However, she also struggled to control the savagery which was her paternal gift/curse. Not at home in either Amazonia or the Underworld, Glorianna went to the world of man.

During World War II, Glorianna fought for the Allied forces against the Nazis, alongside Supreme, another Liefeld creation. She was part of the second and third Brigade teams with other superheroes.
