agak terkejut juga baca dlm paper hari ni. filem ni telah dipilih oleh Columbia Pictures utk edaran luar negara. hebat tu...
filem ni dah lama bikin, tiba-tiba jer dah nak keluar dah, 28 Disember 2006!


sinopsis filemkita...
Cerita tentang keinginan seorang ibu tunggal untuk memiliki cahaya mata. Desakan tinggi itu menyebabkan dia ke Singapura untuk menjalani proses permanian berhadas. Lima tahun kemudian, ketika berpindah ke rumah baru, wanita itu mendapati perubahan pada diri anaknya. Kebimbangannya semakin ketara apabila anak itu bercakap seorang diri.

A spooky tale of the life of a single mother who undergoes a medical procedure known as in-vitro fertilisation in Singapore to have a child of her own. Five years later, she moves into a new apartment and she notices that her child begins to behave oddly. Her fears begin to mount when she finds her child frequently talking to himself in the presence of a shadowy figure.

THE local filmmaking scene received a ringing endorsement from Hollywood when Malaysian-made horror flick Seed of Darkness was picked by Columbia Pictures to be distributed internationally.  

It was the first local Chinese production to be picked by a Hollywood film distributor.

Helmed by award-winning independent director, Michael Chuah, the movie features a star-studded cast, including model Amber Chia and former Miss Malaysia Wong Sze Zen.

揥e抮e honoured as it is the first time that a local Chinese production has been selected by a Hollywood distributor.

Seed of Darkness revolves around the terrifying experience of a single mother when her child, conceived through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), starts behaving strangely.

The child insists that she can see her non-existent father.

Speaking about the movie, Chuah said the script was inspired by Angelina Jolie抯 child adoption.

揑 was looking for stories when I came across an article on Angelina Jolie who was about to adopt a kid from Cambodia.

That抯 when I came up with the idea of spinning a horror tale about a single mum who conceives her child through IVF, apart from offering some insights into the lifestyle of single mums,

film tempatan lain yg diedarkan oleh Columbia Pictures adalah seperti Makar, Biar Betul, Sepet (yg lain tak igt sgt).... so, kekadang bile pikir, distribute by international company, nampak cam film tu hebat... tapi sebenarnye tak menjanjikan apa2... cthnye Makar dan Biar Betul yg amat mengecewakan... so, harap2 film ni mmg berbaloi la dgn status distributor antarabangsa...

Film lain yg bakal ditygkan yg diedarkan oleh Columbia Pictures adalah Dukun (tak silap aku la)...

Sementara itu PGL pun xsilap aku diedarkan oleh Buena Vista International yg juga merupakan part of Buena Vista Columbia Tristar Malaysia...

tapi yg aku tertarik tu dlm artikel di atas tulis pasal nak edar di luar negara. adakah filem ni akan di'hype'kan sebagaimana filem2 seram jepun/korea/taiwan?

Spinning Gasing pun Columbia Tristar kan? mula2 dulu pun cakap nak edar ke luar negara, tapi akhirnya apa pun tadak.

Local Horror Flick Picked Up by Hollywood Film Distributor

6 Dec - History was made when "Seed of Darkness" (formerly known as "Nephesh Seed") became the first local Chinese movie to be picked up by Hollywood film distributor Columbia Tristar. The horror flick directed by Michael Chuah will also make its mark in Malaysian film industry history when the movie is released with the highest number of screens for a local Chinese movie throughout the country.

The signing ceremony between the local filmmakers and international film distributor took place at IMAX Theatre, Berjaya Times Square yesterday. Ironically, Chuah also announced the start of the production of the film at the exact same venue about a year ago.

Science, Technology and Innovations Deputy Minister Dato' Kong Cho Ha, who witnessed the signing ceremony, said "Seed of Darkness" can set the benchmark for local Chinese to produce better quality films. "The government always encourages local filmmakers to take advantage of the multimedia facilities in Cyberjaya," he said. "We want to develop the local creative entertainment industry in Malaysia to be on par with other Asian entertainment scenes such as China, India, Taiwan and Hong Kong."

He added that the local film industry thrived during the late P.Ramlee films and we also have local stars who have gained worldwide recognition such as Datuk Michelle Yeoh and Datin Tiara Jacquelina. "However, to improve I would urge Malaysian filmmakers to collaborate with those who are more established and experienced such as filmmakers from Taiwan, China and Hong Kong.

Columbia Tristar General Manager Anna Ng said despite "Seed of Darkness" being Michael Chuah's first full length movie, it had a well-thought through story and is of very good production quality. "We are very selective in local productions but the movie certainly impressed us," she said. "We have already sent the film to Thailand to have a look and if all goes well, we might send it to other parts of Asia as well."

"Seed of Darkness" is about a life of a single mother who decides to undergo an "in-vitro" fertilisation process to have a child of her own. Seven years later, she moves into a new apartment and her child begins to behave weirdly, including frequently talking to herself and insisting she can see her non-existent father. The movie boasts several big names in its cast including former Miss Malaysia World 2003/2004 Wong Sze Zen, Malaysia Idol 2004 Runner Up Vick Teo and Best Actor in TVC, Malaysian Video Awards 2004 Alvin Wong.

"Seed of Darkness" has passed the censorship board with an 18PL rating and with no cuts, one of the rare locally produced films that has obtained an 18PL rating. Director Michael Chuah said he was unaware of any other local film that has had an 18 rating and that they could be the first. "Perhaps the film's subject and some scenes in the movie are unsuitable for the younger audience," he said, adding that even though it has been rated as 18PL, the audience will be able to watch the film in its entirety.

"Seed of Darkness" delivers in cinemas nationwide 28 December 2006.

HI there, a new horror movie is out & will be screening Nationwide tomorrow in all Cinemas on 28th DEC 06.
it's " SEED OF DARKNESS".

This is the 1st Chinese Horror Film from Malaysia that has been picked up by Columbia Pictures to be distributed Internationally. So do go support our Local Film.

This was a fully independent film that we've worked on with a group of independents film makers.

Starring : Alvin Wong.., Malaysian Idol finalist Vick Teo, Wong Sze Zen ( Miss Malaysia 2003/04) & Amber Chia.

BUt perlu concentrate sikit untuk ending plot... kalau tidak, u will miss it...ok
