Sekadar nak tahu bagaimana you all sebagai parent ajar Bahasa Inggeriss dirumah :-
1). Berbual-bual dirumah dalam bahasa Inggeriss - campur aduk percakapan dalam bahasa Melayu - Enggeriss,
2). Banyakkan latihan membaca dalam bahasa Inggeriss sahaja,

norsha rasa cara paling berkesan untuk kanak2 is to communicate dgn dia org with that language..kalau nak dia selesa dgn BI, communicate in BI la..
kalau guna buku or CD pun ok..tapi kalau takde praktis, mmg takleh lawan dgn kids yg mmg fully communicate in BI.. |

communicate with them.... thats the best way....
Tapi jangan ignore BM, sebab anak2 melayu yang cakap BM pun lemah dalam Tatabahasa.... |

masalah i pulak...we all mmg sedaya upaya ajar dia ckp english, whenever possible..and he almost managed to construct a full simple sentence...waktu tu seronok sgt coz anak i ni mmg lambat start cakap...tp bila i tukar dia to nursery sb pindah umah, within a month jer mostly what we taught him slowly gone...rasa frust sgt coz it took us more than a month to teach him english vocabs sampai dia start to construct simple sentence....now he speaks in malay but still undestand english...apa2 eng vocab dah jadi malay sb budak2 kat nursery tu byk guna malay...i tgh pk whether nak cari nursery lain atau tak, furthermore he's 4 now and later on nak bersekolah... |

That is normal. Children adapt themselves easily to their surrounding. You guys just keep on communicating with him in English at home. Once he catches up with the routine: BM with friends, English at home, InsyaAllah, he'll be able to switch languages without any problem. Actually it's even better sebab dia dapat dua input, Eng. and BM.
The idea of communicating with your kid constantly in English is to make him feel at ease thinking in English, because once he can do that he should be able to speak the language more comfortably. Of course, reading is also important because that's when he'll acquire more vocabulary. |

kadang2 yg pegi kelas bahasa inggeris nie yg lah yg ada problem communicate in english..lebih baik cari nursery yg gunakan english as a communication medium (pada sesiapa yg tak gunakan english kat rumah lah) |

It could be the other way round, English environment with friends @ school, BM environment at home.
But to me, in some ways, it could be a learning experience for the parent as well. Masa nilah nak improve cakap BI, nak practise cakap BI more confidently. I think anak-anak would be the least judgemental with the way you talk and the least likely person who would laugh at your mistakes. Interaction is not complicated with them (unlike talking to adults), which is a good ground to start practising your speaking skills.
Of course, there is always the risk your kids will copy any "mistakes" that you unintentionally make. That's where their exposure to English outside home comes in...this is assuming they go to English medium schools.
If they don't, as adults I'm sure many of us would continuously make an effort to improve our speaking proficiency if we are really into it. |

saya tak cakap english lagi sebab takut dia confuse dgn bahasa ibunda sendiri, he's too young, nanti dia tak tahu mana satu bahasa ibunda dia...ini pendapat peribadi...
cuma ajar diorang cakap english dlm bab bab manners je, mcm thank you, would you like to have some? etc... itu pun bagitau awal awal kat anak anak yg ini dlm english kita cakap mcm ni... |

hmm mungkin bunyi mcm pesimis skit ... bukan apa misy nak dia kenal bahasa melayu dulu, kalau boleh tak mau dia cakap mcm rojak... mcm mama dia ni ,
skrg ni english tu jadik mcm awareness je utk dia, pendedahan kpd english mostly from tvs, cartoon..
tahun depan mungkin dia start bercakap english sebab dah masuk kindies |

Anak2 SIL learn & cakap english thru cartoon network, playhouse disney channel & yg seangkatan dengannya. diorang memang type lambat cakap & x cakap banyak. yg sorang tu sampai dah masuk sekolah still confuse dgn BM. vocab BM dia limited. tp kalau tengok cara diorang tengok cartoon channels tu mmg surrender... sanggup stay up sampai pukul 2, 3 a.m. duduk dgn nenek... camtule |
