Go-Ram

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IPOH: Outwitem, which finished last of 15 runners in a Class 4, Division 3 event over 1,100m straight in Race 4 here yesterday, collapsed and died after returning to the unsaddling enclosure.

The four-year-old New Zealand mare was showing RM42 and RM12 on the totalisator.

The mare, trained by former jockey Leong Poh Keong of Ipoh, was ridden by Yan Weng Kuan.

On returning to the enclosure, Outwitem collapsed and Perak Turf Club veterinary surgeons rushed to its aid.

They tried to revive the mare but it did not respond to treatment.

A post-mortem on Outwitem was immediately done. Blood and urine samples taken from Outwitem will be sent to Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang.

Outwitem had earned RM15,375 in prize money from her only victory in the Malaysian circuit.

salah satu kematian kuda lumba nie adalan disebabkan oleh exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH). Cuba try baca link nie.

Exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH) refers to bleeding (haemorrhage) from blood vessels within the lung (pulmonary) which occurs during strenuous exercise (exercise-induced). Whilst it has been documented for over 300 years that a small percentage of racehorses show blood at the nostrils after racing (e.g. Bleeding Childers, Herod), it was not until the introduction of fibreoptic endoscopes (devices for looking into the airways; they are passed via the nostrils in the conscious horse) that it became clear that blood observed at the nostrils during or following strenuous exercise nearly always originated from the lung.
