Salah satu psychological war yg dilancarkan oleh Britain adalah 'Black Propaganda Radio'  yg diasaskan oleh Sefton Delmer. Mungkin kita tertanya-tanya mengapa radio memainkan peranan penting dalam kehidupan tentera era WW2..

When the confines of Larchfield, in Aspley Guise, became too small, Sefton Delmer transferred his operations to a larger premises in the village, The Rookery. The house was equipped for recording facilities on 12 inch discs and in July, 1942, to extend the rehearsal apparatus in the house to huts outside, it was arranged to supply 21 yards of rubber covered twin wire. As the permanent liaison officer between The Rookery and the U.S.A., W. Hottelot often stayed at the house. As a new 'help', her duties to include accompanying the broadcast teams to 'Simpsons' and in The Rookery, Aspley Guise particular the priest for G7, in November, 1942, Miss Hodson became a member of the staff. Many dignitaries from the world of intelligence and propaganda came to stay at various intervals, including Ian Fleming, of James Bond fame, David Bowes L:yon, brother of the Queen and Otto John, the only conspirator of the Hitler bomb plot to escape abroad. At the end of the war much of the furniture was sold off and in a small desk several scripts, written in German, were found.

In early 1942, Johannes Reinholz left GS1 and Frank Lynder, son of a Bremen bookseller, took over as Der Chef抯 adjutant, having been interviewed by Delmer in November, 1941. His mother being Jewish, he had fled from Germany in 1938 and successful at Delmer抯 interview, in January, 1942, he travelled to Bletchley Station, being taken from there by car to the Aspley Guise headquarters.

Only until September, 1942, when the time was judged appropriate, did Der Chef begin to attack Hitler - albeit obliquely - since much of Germany, although now to a lesser degree, still shared his ambitions. The policy of GS1, to avoid an antagonistic backlash, was therefore to portray him as a victim of corrupt, self seeking, party parasites who swayed his decisions for their own ends. Especially targeted were high party officials and the S.S.  
  The best for music and for news, GS1 eventually attracted - according to an S.O.E. report from Sweden - a larger audience than the official German radio stations and in fact the Gestapo became so alarmed that the investigation of individual reports began, fuelled by suspicions of close collusion with the German armed forces. Indeed, in December, 1942, the capture of an anti Nazi prisoner, General Von Thomas, revealed that he thought the secret station to be in Germany, further disclosing that the Gestapo had tried to discover it抯 location but failed. Yet on occasions a basic error could well have revealed the true nature of the broadcasts for at least on one instance, another British station had been allowed to come on the air, employing the same frequency as GS1, immediately after the latter had closed.

Knowing as well as Delmer that the best forms of propaganda lay in entertainment, Goebbels was led to comment of his rival; his 憊ery close acquaintance with German conditions enabled him to invest his vulgar attacks with great versimilitude

ON MAY 23, 1941, a few German civilians and soldiers, twisting the knobs of their radios, suddenly heard in German ,"Here is Gustav Siegfried Eins" repeated several times, followed by "Calling Gustav Siegfried Eighteen." Then came a message in a very easily decipherable code apparently directing one underground agent to meet another, then, in clear German, a diatribe against Hitler's deputy, Hess, who had recently flown his plane solo to Scotland on what appeared to be a private peace mission, and against "that flatfooted ***** of a drunken Jew Churchill.".

This was the beginning of Britain's fantastic "Black Propaganda Radio" operation which, for the duration of World War 2, broadcast under such names as Soldatensender Calais and Atlantiksender messages to the troops and the civilian public of Germany purporting to come from within Germany itself, loyally German, thoroughly anti-British but also completely anti war. Through these broadcasts, which created and built up the myth of the "good" anti-Nazi Wehramacht, the german war effort was perceptibly weakened.

In fact all of the broadcasts came from a station in Britain whose chief, Sefton Delmer, an experienced journalist, had grown up in Germany, spoke the language fluently, and had access to detailed reports of conditions inside Germany from British Intelligence, reports of bomber crews, captured German soldiers, etc. For years even after the end of World War 2 the entire operation remained a closely guarded secret. But with the clear revival of authoritarian nationalistic tendencies in Germany backed by the myth of the "good" Wehrmacht which the "Black Radio" did so much to create, Delmer broke silence in an attempt to counteract it by telling the whole exciting story of the World War 2 operation of which he was the director. It is a fascinating story of ingenious propaganda of a kind which made that of Goebbel's seem crude and adolescent.

It would be difficult to imagine a combination of circumstance better calculated to fit a man for an important task than that which preceded Sefton Delmer's appointment as director of Britain's"Black Radio" program during world war 2. Born in berlin in 1904, the son of an Australian father who was a lecturer in English and English literature at Berlin University, Delmer learned to speak German almost before he could speak English. He went to German schools, and took part in German life as naturally as the son of a Berliner of several generations. Sefton Delmer left Germany for England in 1917. In 1927, after his graduation from Oxford, he joined his parents in Berlin as a teacher of English and a freelance correspondent for british newspapers. The following year he was in charge of Beaverbrook's Daily Express Berlin office. As the representative of an influential British newspaper, Delmer had access to the leaders of the Nationalist Socialist Party, and became acquainted with Goring, Goebbel's Himmler, and Hitler.

After the outbreak of World War 2 Delmer was a war correspondent in europe until the fall of Paris. It is not surprising that the Germans remembering his close association with the leaders of the Nazi Party, should have suspected that he was a British spy, or that the British, with the same knowledge and memory of his German background, should have suspected him of being a German agent. But with the British suspicion cleared away he was obviously the man to head Britain's World War 2 "Black Propaganda" operation.

At the end of World War 2, Delmer was awarded an OBE and returned to journalism. As Chief Foreign Affairs reporter of the London Daily Express, He has traveled to almost every country. In June 1962 Delmer was invited to lecture here at the United states Army's psychological warfare school at Fort Bragg. he has had one other Book published in England: Trail Sinister, a volume of his prewar memoirs.

Pasal black radio ni tak pernah dengar walaupun tahu BBC pancar ke seluruh Europe masa tu...sape2 di Occupied Europe yang dengar siaran ni atau pun mempunyai radio Short wave alamatnya masuk concentration camp le.

Pasal errr gambo lucah tu, rasanya semua combatants ada buat benda tu. kalau Jepun, dia aim esp. kat askar British/ Komanwel yang tunjukkan (quite graphically) 'wives/sweethearts' diaorang tengah projek dengan askar amerika. The problem is dari yang dibaca, all these kind of psyops tak menjadi (silap2 diaorang buat 'modal').

German jugak ada buat propaganda broadcast ke UK. Dia punya 'DJ' utama namanya William Joyce, orang British sendiri yang dipanggil Lord Haw-Haw sebab suara dia nampak aristokratik gitu! Kerajaan British larang brits dari dengar siaran ni tapi ramai yang dengar jugak sebab nak variety...kena pulak BBC quite stiff (macam English  ler....ada sombong sikit)

Sebuah negara di selatan tanahair juga bersedia untuk menggunakan pendekatan yang sama, jika sesuatu berlaku antara negara kita dengan mereka. Di Tebing Barat, Nablus dan beberapa tempat yang paling kritikal di dunia ini, penggunaan bahan lucah dan radio propaganda turut digunakan oleh tentera Israel untuk merosakkan pemikiran anak muda dan budak-budak Palestine.

Di sempadan Korea Utara dan Korea Selatan, perkara ini masih berlanjutan hingga ke hari ini.

Di Malaysia, Parti Komunis Malaysa (PKM) juga mempunyai siaran radio sendiri yang dipancarkan dari kawasan utara Semenanjung. Antara yang sering berucap dalam radio berkenaan adalah Rashid Maidin dan beberapa pemimpin kanan PKM. Pihak berkuasa memantau dengan rapat isi kandungan yang disiarkan dan isu-isu propaganda turut di gunakan untuk melemahkan semangat tentera dan polis yang berada dalam hutan belantara.

Itu adalah sebagaian contoh-contoh black radio atau mungkin propaganda peperangan yang berlaku dalam senario seluruh dunia. Tetapi, pendekatan yang serupa turut digunakan oleh parti-parti politik di Malaysia ini dalam tahun-tahun 1998-2000.

Sebenarnya, kita juga boleh mengambil ujian 'amatur radio' kalau tak silap utk memahirkan diri tentang teknology radio nie dan boleh mintak lesen penyiaran radio. Rasa2nya ATM juga ada rancangan radio sendiri, 'Hello Skot'.. ini juga bagus, any psy war tactic is a double edge sword. Can be used against and with.

Ingat lagi masa peperangan Iraq, media Iraq amat berkesan, cuma kelemahan ketenteraan akibat embargo, mempercepatkan kejatuhan Iraq.

Kekuatan Yahudi juga terletak pada media, almost all mejor media depa control. Pak Arab yg kaya nie cuma tahu beli Hotel kat bandar2 besar US, beli la saham CNBC ker, CNN ker, ada jugak pengaruh walau sikit. Al- Jazeera, pulak berbahasa Arab, hanya dunia arab sahaja yg paham.

Tapi bagus, Eva bagi 'insight' yg amat menarik dgn info ini.

Yeap, akhirnya komunikasi memang amat penting dalam peperangan. Diciptkan alat untuk 'jammed' teknologi komunikasi semasa peperangan dan Singapore pernah 'mengacah' ATM dengan cara ini satu ketika dulu.
