3 beach boys nabbed over alleged rape attempt on Qatari tourist

GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested three beach boys at the Monkey Beach in Teluk Bahang, here, for allegedly trying to rape a Qatari tourist.

The suspects are two Rohingyas, aged 31 and 28, and a Bangladeshi, aged 43.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent A.A. Anbalagan said today that the incident took place at 3.30pm on Monday.

He said the 19-year-old Qatari student and her family were eating at a stall, when she got up and walked alone by the beach to take photographs.

Anbalagan said the woman had asked two of the beach boys, who were wearing ninja masks, about a horse riding service.

“One of the suspects told her that there was such a service and took her to a forest trail near the beach. When they got to a forested area, he started behaving aggresively and held the victim’s hands behind her and pulled her, causing the girl to fall,” he said.

“He then pulled his shorts down, pulled the victim’s pants to her knees and tried to insert his private parts into her, but failed. He then ejaculated on the victim’s private parts and fled. The other suspect stood guard.”

Anbalagan said the beach boys were arrested on the same day.

He said the 31-year-old Rohingya would be charged at the Balik Pulau magistrate’s court on Monday for assault or use of criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty.

“The other Rohingya will be made into a prosecution witness. As for the Bangladeshi, we are still waiting for his Immigration records,” he said.
