Ullambana Festival is a traditional event datingback to Buddha’s time to promote filial piety and gratitude to our parents theway Maudgalyayana - disciple of the Buddha did. The merits of chanting can be transferred either to ourdeceased ancestors to alleviate them from the lower realms or to our parents tohelp them eradicate bad karma so that they may enjoy peace and blessings.

Background:

Maudgalyayana, a disciple of the Buddha, foundthat his mother had been suffering in the realm of hungry ghosts as a result ofher sinful deeds during her lifetime. To save his mother from suffering in theevil realm, Maudgalyayana held a grand offering to all the Sangha on the 15thof July. With the tremendous merit of such offering, Maudgalyayana’s mother wasfinally delivered from the suffering in the ghost realm. In remembrance ofthis, July is thus known as the month of filial piety. To facilitate ourdevotees to show gratitude and piety towards their ancestors and parents, FaHua Ci Yun is going to conduct the Ullambana Festival Filial Piety DharmaCeremony to benefit both the living and the deceased. You and your family are cordiallyinvited to attend these ceremonies as set out below:
