The Cambodian version of “Nobody” is sparking a flurry of controversy. Cambodian female quartet RHM sang a Khmer version of Wonder Girls’ hit “Nobody” without JYP Entertainment’s permission. Dressed in the same outfits as the Korean girl group and dancing to the same choreography, RHM’s performance of “Nobdy” was posted on the online UCC site, YouTube, recording more than 500 thousand hits.
Wonder Girls’ spokesperson at JYP Entertainment said that the video is definitely illegal, although Wonder Girls and their agency understand that the posting reflects the group’s huge popularity overseas. It’s reportedly not that uncommon in Southeast Asia to find foreign hits sung in their respective languages. Other pirated versions were discovered in China and Thailand. JYP Entertainment is seeking legal actions together with Sony ATV overseeing the overseas copyrights of “Nobody.”
Until now Korean musicians have been powerless to stop illegal remakes or adaptations in foreign countries. One music industry insider says that a few years ago an Italian singer copied Lee Jung-hyun’s “Wa” in its entirety. Copyright violation has been rampant in Asia, but, starting with Wonder Girls’ “Nobody,” copyright holders are going to fight back and protect their intellectual properties.

BIG BANG -- KANG DAE SUNG - G DRAGON ACCEPTED IN KYUNG HEE UNIVERSITY
Kang Dae Sung and Kwon Ji Yong, both from an idol group named Big Bang, will be college graduates of 2009.
Dae Sung and G-Dragon’s names were both mentioned in the list of students, whom were accepted to the Kyung Hee University, which was announced on the 18th. They have both applied for the Design arts School, majoring Post Modern Music.
The YG entertainment (the entertainment which big bang is involved in) have said, “We are very happy for their acceptance to the college,” and “even if, it hasn’t been such a long time since we have presented their 2nd Album, yet there was a positive response from the audience, and they have also received awards (I think they are talking about mkmf). But now that we have received another great news, we are truly happy for them.”
Both Dae Sung and G Dragon have said, “We will try our best both as a student and a singer. As a member of Big Bang, I will be a role model.”
The YG entertainment has added on saying, “Good news were announced continuously,” and “not only the members were happy for their acceptance, but also the whole of YG family.”
The people who were accepted in the Kyung Hee university so far, majoring post modern music, were Wonder Girls’ Ye Eun (accepted last year), Park Hyo Shin, Lin, SG Wannabe’s Kim Jin Ho, Buzz’s Min Kyung Hoon, Suga’s Park Su Jin, DBXQ’s Max, Super Junior’s Kyu Hyun, etc. The world star, Bi (Rain), has also been accepted and graduated on February, 2006.
