Real & Barca to bid £50m for Fabregas
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will spark a bidding war between Barcelona and Real Madrid during the January transfer window.
Accrording to The Daily Express, both Spanish giants are prepared to start a bidding war on Fabregas at £50million.
Fabregas, who has stated his desire to fight for Arsenal's cause, has been repeatedly linked with a move back to Spain for the past three seasons.
But the longer Arsenal remain trophyless, the more Fabregas will be linked with a move away from the Emirates.
If he does move, it has been reported that Barcelona, the club where he started his youth career, would be clear favourites. Marca has claimed the club's vice president, Sandro Rosell, has had positive talks with Arsenal's hierarchy.
But Real Madrid have been encouraged by an interview Fabregas gave last summer when he said:
"Naturally my family would understand if I signed for Real Madrid - they love me, they want me to be happy."

CESC FABREGAS admits his Arsenal side face a tall order against the Premier League's big guns - because they are too small.
Arsene Wenger's side was bulldozed by 6ft 2ins Didier Drogba in their 3-0 home defeat by Chelsea.
Gunners' youngsters were also swept aside in the Carling Cup at Manchester City.
And 5ft 9ins Fabregas says his team were too small to cope with the Blues in the air - and statistics show they ARE the division's smallest side.
The team Wenger fielded against Stoke on Saturday had the shortest average height of any of the top flight clubs at just 171.1cm - or 5ft 10ins.
Chelsea were the third tallest team at the weekend, averaging 184.5cm - almost 6ft 1ins.
Arsenal did prove size does not always matter by beating Stoke - the second tallest team at 6ft 2ins per man - 2-0 at the Emirates.
But Fabregas, 22, admits they need more muscle and conceded boss Wenger needs to spend in January. He said: "Against Man City we had a lot of similar players, who like the ball into their feet. Sometimes you need a different kind of option.
"Against Chelsea we dominated the first 40 minutes without creating too much.
".Perhaps we had the same kind of problem and we were a little small to fight against them on crosses too.
"Overall I saw a Chelsea team that was normal but has probably the best striker in the world. Without Drogba, their team would not be the same."
Arsenal are without a number of stars for tomorrow's Champions League trip to Olympiakos and, with a place in the knockout stages already assured, Wenger will field a young team.
Robin van Persie is among Gunners' absentees - but the Dutch striker may be back sooner than expected.
Van Persie feared a six-month spell on the sidelines after an ankle injury playing for Holland against Italy last month.
But Van Persie has had surgery and told pals he could now return in three months.
Gunners striker Nicklas Bendtner is also out until the New Year after groin surgery. |
