Coloccini Close To Liverpool Move
Argentinean defender, Fabricio Coloccini, seems destined to a future in the English Premiership with Liverpool.
Coloccini, who is under contract with Milan but has played on loan in Spain for the past three seasons, confirmed the Reds offer and said he's quite interested in this possibility.
"I heard of Liverpool's offer," said the young defender, "We are discussing it and it seems interesting. I'm proud that such an important club is looking for me; I enjoy English football and I always follow it. It's an honour that a coach who won the Spanish league wants me. I want be very happy if we reach an agreement; it's a chance which I would not let slip away."
Coloccini is currently playing as a starter for Argentina in the Copa America, where he's gaining rave reviews for his performances.

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Djibril Cisse scored twice and 1998 World Cup hero Michael Owen added a goal to lead Liverpool to a 5-1 victory over Celtic in an exhibition game Monday night.
The game was a rematch of sorts of the 2003 UEFA Cup quarterfinals, when Celtic upset Liverpool.
Celtic, the defending Scottish Premier League champions, were a step behind the Reds on Monday night.
Liverpool took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when John Arne Riise scored off a free kick from 25 feet out, sending the ball through traffic into the upper right corner of the goal.
Riise then set up Owen with a perfect deep ball in the 17th minute. Owen trapped the ball between two Celtic defenders, then lobbed a shot over the head of keeper David Marshall for the 2-0 lead.
Cisse, the leading scorer in France last year, scored in the 62nd minute for Liverpool's third goal, then Stephane Henchoz scored in the 68th minute for a 4-0 lead. Cisse scored again in the 76th minute for Liverpool's final goal.
Craig Beattie scored for Celtic on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute.
The teams played before a crowd of 24,271 at Rentschler Field, home of the University of Connecticut football team.
It was the third game in the 11-game series featuring nine European teams playing in seven cities. |
