Actor Lee Byung Hun is taking on yet another Hollywood film, joining American rapper, producer, and actor Sean “Diddy” Combs on “Rush Hour 4.”
“Rush Hour 4” is the third sequel to hit 1998 American buddy action comedy film “Rush Hour” starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.
On April 23, Lee Byung Hun’s management agency BH Entertainment confirmed the actor’s participation in the film. However, the representative said it was impossible to confirm anything further, “It is true that Lee Byung Hun participated in a portion of filming for ‘Rush Hour 4.’ However, due to the contract, we are not able to confirm anything else.”
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker will not be participating in “Rush Hour 4,” so it is being speculated that Lee Byung Hun and Sean “Diddy” Combs will be taking on their roles, respectively, especially after Sean “Diddy” Combs uploaded a photo onto his Instagram of a billboard for “Rush Hour 4” featuring the two actors side by side. In the caption, he writes, “The Rush is back…”
Lee Byung Hun has previously participated in Hollywood movies “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and its sequel “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” He is also slated to appear in “Terminator 5: Genisys” and “Beyond Deceit.”
A puzzling billboard has been spotted on California’s Hollywood Boulevard corner, and has fans both confused and excited at the same time.
The billboard shows a graphic of the Rush Hour series and is titled, Rush Hour 4: Face Off 2. It shows Korean actor Lee Byung Hun and American rapper/producer Sean “Diddy” Combs in place of the original actors of the first three films, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.
The last confirmed news regarding Rush Hour 4 was that Jackie Chan and Christ Tucker have both indeed been approached about it, however, according to Cinema Online, both refused to agree to any terms until a script was ready for them to look over.
EXCLUSIVE: MGM and Sony are putting some international flair into its ensemble cast for the The Magnificent Seven remake. Byung-hun Lee is getting the role of Billy Rocks, and the South Korean star joins the Antoine Fuqua-directed ensemble cast led by Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio.
Lee had showy turns in two G.I. Joe movies, but the international action star gets a real shot in Terminator: Genisys, playing the T-1000 cyborg that has all the liquifying capabilities that Robert Patrick exhibited in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
The Magnificent Seven is produced by Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black with Walter Mirisch and Antoine Fuqua are executive producers.
Byung-hun Lee is in negotiations to join the all-star cast of MGM’s The Magnificent Seven.
The Western is deep in casting mode as it heads toward its late-May start. Antoine Fuqua is directing the movie, which begins with a woman hiring a disparate group of gunslingers to protect her town from rampaging bandits.
Here’s who’s playing whom in the remake of the classic 1960 movie:
►Denzel Washington is playing a bounty hunter who takes it upon himself to help the woman, played by Haley Bennett.
►Chris Pratt is a magician turned gambler.
►Vincent D’Onofrio is a mountain man with an unsavory past that includes killing Native Americans.
►Wagner Moura is a caballero with a bounty on his head.
►Ethan Hawke is a sharpshooting war deserter.
►Lee will play a former indentured servent who is quite handy with a sai.
Also in talks to join the movie is Jason Momoa, who will play one of the movie’s bad guys.
Lee is a Korean star who has appeared as Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe movies and as Han Cho Bai in Red 2. He next will be seen in Terminator Genisys, and he recently wrapped the thriller Beyond Deceit.
Global star LEE Byung-hun has signed on for yet another Hollywood production. According to his management company BH Entertainmenton May 6th, LEE has confirmed that he will board the remake of John Sturges’ 1960 film The Magnificent Seven, itself a remake of KUROSAWA Akira’s classic Seven Samurai (1954). So far the project has cast Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wagner Moura and Ethan Hawke. Antoine Fuqua of Training Day (2001), Shooter (2007) and The Equalizer (2014), who is well-versed in male-driven action fare, will be directing the new western.
Set against the backdrop of a remote town, a woman hires a group of seven gunmen to kick out the bandits that have been terrorizing her town. The woman will be played by Haley Bennett, while LEE will take the role of Billy Rocks.
However, this isn’t LEE’s first foray in the western genre as he was cast in KIM Jee-woon’s 2008’s hit film The Good, The Bad, and The Weird, which screened at the 61st Cannes International Film Festival.
While LEE’s two upcoming domestic films Inside Men and Memories of the Sword are awaiting their release, he will next be seen inTerminator: Genisys, which will hit North American theaters on July 1st.
A hilarious video of bloopers and making-of clips from the shooting of “Rush Hour 4 x Face/Off 2” has been released by the co-producers Be Funny Studios and Funny or Die.
“Rush Hour 4 x Face/Off 2″ is a parody trailer for a fake movie that combines elements from both the “Rush Hour” franchise and “Face/Off,“ and stars Lee Byung Hun and Sean “Diddy” Combs. The short film, which was posted on April 26, has been viewed over 150,000 times on the American comedy website Funny or Die.
Although the behind the scenes video mainly focuses on Sean Combs, there are some great shots of Lee Byung Hun showing off his action star skills and making everyone laugh on set.
At one point, Lee Byung Hun does a bit where he suggests that the film could also be a part of the “Terminator” franchise, as he’s starring in the upcoming fifth installment of the series “Terminator Genisys.”
In another scene, while the two guys seem to be filming a promo for an international audience, Sean Combs tries to say “annyeonghaseyo” (hello) in Korean but fails spectacularly, despite Lee Byung Hun’s coaching. In the end, Lee Byung Hun says, “Forget it,” and pretends to walk away in frustration.
