Sakho could be Wenger’s ‘other centre half’
PSG defender Mamadou Sakho could be on his way to the Emirates Stadium after his agent revealed that Arsene Wenger have put in an offer for the France Under-21 starlet.
Last month, Gooner Talk published reports stating Arsenal’s interest in 19-year-old Sakho. We then went on to tell you how Gunners’ defender Mikael Silvestre may be a part of any deal which involved the highly-rated stopper.
His agent admitted yesterday evening that it’s a two-horse race between Arsenal and German giants Bayern Munich for Sakho’s signature.
“He will be moving clubs this summer. Arsenal are interested, but the club are too cheap at the moment. A transfer will happen soon. He wants to play football in England and Arsenal are a good club. They want him the most. Bayern Munich are a top European club, so I think it will be Bayern or Arsenal.”
With Thomas Vermaelen just days away from completing his Arsenal transfer, it would surprise very few to see Arsene Wenger recruiting added stability to his already-weak defence.
Gooner Talk aim to keep you updated throughout the summer including transfer stories, opinion pieces and much, much more content that you won’t be able to find elsewhere – so stay tuned!

Arsenal legend backs Toure swoop
![](http://fourfourtwo.com/contentimages/news/yaya.jpg)
Arsenal must sign up a number of summer recruits before the beginning of next season if they are to continue to compete for major titles, according to Dennis Bergkamp.
The Dutchman, who is now a striker's coach with Ajax, believes the addition of Kolo Toure's brother Yaya would be a particularly good acquisition for the North London club.
Bergkamp told Sky Sports News, "It's wise to get some new players in for the team's sake. It's always a good feeling when you get four or five new players in the dressing room.”
The Gunners have been linked with numerous players so far this summer as they look to maintain a sustained title challenge, a feat they haven't managed to achieve for five seasons.
Bergkamp believes that Yaya's close ties with Arsenal could attract the Ivorian: "He [Toure] would fit in straight away, of course, because of family there. He was training with us I think for a few weeks."
Whether the Barcelona midfielder's close connection with Arsene Wenger's team will be enough to force through a deal remains to be seen. |

Arsenal are trying hard to buy W Sjneider the price is a stumbling block may be another long one like Arshavin deal. They will also sign Owen on a free.

ARSENAL RUMOURS
As you all know newcastle are getting rid of all their players, and Arsene will not hesitate to get Obafemi Martins. Here are some other rumours ive heard.
Ins:
Yaya Toure if Kolo stays £11 million
Klaas Jan Huntelaar (pe with Adebayor) £7 million
David Bentley (1 of the tottenham players that are being sold) £8 million
Xavi Alonso 316 million
Goklna Hinler undisclosed
Outs:
Kolo Toure to Man City £15 million (if yaya doesn't come)
Robin Van Persie to Inter £17 million
Carlos Vela to West Ham £8 million
Vito Mannone to Barnsley £1 million
William Galls to Juventus £8 million
Emmanuel Eboue to Real Mallorca £3.5 million
Henry is also interested on returning to the Emirates, but no offer has been made by Arseene
Arsenal to sign either Yaya or Veloso. 2 Centre Halfs in Vermaelaen and Richards. And don't rule out bids for Crouch and Dzeko if Ade goes.
There is a huge battle going on between Man Utd,Real Madrid, Inter, Barca and Arsenal for the signiture of Karim Benzema however it depends on other sales. Man Utd are favourites and are willing 2 pay 30 million out of the money the recieved from the Ronaldo transfer. Real Madrid have first refusal on Benzema and the option to pay 40 million and sign him after the World Cup in 2010 but are focused on Villa. Inter Milan could opt 2 take a large sum from Barca instead of the proposed swap deal between Eto'o and Ibrahimovic and move for Benzema while Barca could try for Benzema should the deal 4 Ibra fall thru. Arsenal do not have the money to compete with any of the other 4 clubs but have an ace in Adebayor who is admired by Lyon and wanted 2 sign him before his 2006 move from Monaco. Arsenal may offer 10 million + Adebayor 4 Benzema, this is highly unlikely though.
Arsenal will have a lower–profile summer with the deal 4 Ajax captain Vermalen almost done, 10 million pounds while Wenger is preparing a bid 4 Mamadou Sahko that could see Silvestre or Gallas inserted + 5 million. Hangeland is seen as ideal but Fulham want 15 million which may prove 2 much. In midfield Wenger is likely 2 chose between Veloso and Blaise Matudi, there are concerns over Veloso's attituide but both would cost somewhere in the reigion of 7–10 million. Mohamadou Dabo could replace an unsettled Eboue who is admired by Inter, Juve and Atletico. |

Arsenal News
I don't know anyone at Arsenal but i do have an uncle who played for them in the 60's 70's and talking to him he reckons the following might happen, based on what he's seen so far this year in the market.
Ins:
Robert Green
Sakho
Hangeland
Vermaelen(he didnt mention him, but as we all know its a done deal)
De Rossi or Inler or yaya, veloso will not be bought by any of the big four.
Hazard and Huntelaar.
he also said he's heard reliable talk of Cabaye.
i'll reserve judgement till august.
heres hoping.
HOPEFULLY Arsenal will sign a DM, and one of the following would be nice. . .
(Rough guess at the prices?)
DM– Yaya Toure –Barca £15m
– Veloso –Sporting Lisbon £10–15m
– De Rossi –Roma £15–20m
– M Diarra – Real Madrid £10m
– Barry would have been great, but he opted for the cash rather than playing some decent footy in the champs league!
– Barnetta –B Leverkusen. – Melo –Fiorentina and a load of players names from the french League have poped up too. Dont know too much about any of the french league players to be honest!
Defender Centre – Would prefer someone that's had a couple of years playing in Europe or with their national team and around the age of 25 (so not to pickie, lol).
– Bruno Alves –Porto £10m
– Vermaelen –Ajax looks like it might happen soon for around the £10m mark?
– Hangeland –Fulham, but they will end up asking for a small fortune, like £15m which is far to much for 1yrs decent performance in the prem? If we could get him for around £7–10m at the most then maybe?
– Albiol – Valencia £10–12m
– or any number of the German defenders out their as their useually pretty solid, physically/in the tackle and the air.
Lets just hope we can keep our players injury free for next season as it would have made a difference last season for sure. And who know's. . . hopefuly a Prem or champ's league trophy in the emirates trophy room next season! Fingers crosssed.
