Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger complained about the state of the pitch at a stadium that cost an estimated £850million.

'They build a stadium with all that money and there is still no pitch,' said Wenger. 'It's laughable, it's just not flat. I'm not complaining just for Arsenal, it was the same for Chelsea.'

An FA spokesman admitted: 'This is the fifth game we have played at Wembley and the pitch has been taken up for concerts and relaid. It will come up again for the summer season of concerts and then we will address the situation.'

Yet Hiddink contradicted Wenger. 'The pitch was good,' he said.

Drogba, who was marginalised and looking like a man determined to leave earlier in the season when Luiz Felipe Scolari was in charge, has become the lethal striker of old under Hiddink.

'There's nothing special about me against Arsenal,' he said. 'I love to score goals against any team - not just them. It's my job.'

Wenger said: 'Drogba is a winner, he scores in big games.'
