Manchester United's Patrice Evra says he hopes his former team-mate Carlos Tevez is fit to play for Manchester City in Sunday's derby at Old Trafford.

Tevez is a doubt with a knee injury but Evra hopes his friend will be involved.

"I have had a message from him saying they are going to win. I am not so sure," said Evra.

"I just hope he plays. It'll be special to play against him as he's such a good friend but he is a City player now and we cannot let him beat United."

After years of United being top dogs in Manchester, both clubs go into the weekend in the top four of the Premier League, the first time in 40 years there has been near-parity for their derby.

And Evra admits City's increased resources and funds have had a big impact on the balance of the rivalry.

"When we have played them before they have never been in the top four," he said.

"This year it is a big mission of City's to play in the Champions League. They have not lost yet, so they will come to Old Trafford with a lot of confidence. It will be an amazing game and it is a big challenge. I hope we are ready."

Tevez was a fans' favourite during his two seasons on loan at Manchester United but moved to City in the summer after becoming fed up with United taking so long to offer him a permanent contract.

"I have been joking with him about the reception he will get," added Evra.

"I don't know if the fans will boo him or clap him. He did a great job at Manchester United. He respected the shirt and the fans understand that. But if they boo him I will join in."

aku boleh accept fan minat die sbb komitmen die main tp kalo alasan die chow hanya kerana x dpt main selalu adalah bull sh**..

sape yg main tu adalah keputusan bos n result die yg tanggung.. as long as kontrak die bkn dgn kelab tp dgn si kia jorkbean so agak x berbaloi utk bayar harga yg tinggi camtu pada egen die tu..

yup,M.U agak terlewat offer kontrak kat tevez tp persoalan kalo die stay n terpaksa bergilir2 adakah die akan accept deal tu???

Silva: United move would be a golden opportunity

Valencia and Spain star David Silva has given fresh momentum to reports linking him with a transfer to Manchester United by claiming that a move to England would be "hard to resist".

Silva was a key member of the Spain side that won Euro 2008.

Silva, 23, was reported to be a target for both United and Liverpool over the summer but surprisingly stayed at Valencia, along with David Villa, despite the Spanish club's crippling financial problems.

The winger has started the new season in impressive form, scoring the opening goal in Valencia's 4-2 win over Valladolid on September 13, and it is believed that Sir Alex Ferguson remains an admirer of the Euro 2008 winner.

While Silva is committed to Valencia at present, he has hinted that the chance to move to Old Trafford would hold a strong appeal in the future.

"It's an honour for any player that a club of the prestige of Manchester United should follow them and that in itself is enormous praise," Silva said in the Daily Mirror.

"I am committed to Valencia and my dream is to win the title but in the future anything is possible. Valencia have rejected offers for me in the past few months and I am happy here. But I also know that the Premier League is a big competition and hard to resist."
