A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL - Sunday Thoughts
Yesterday a friend shared a tazkirah by Ustaz Manja about the role of leaders and how it influenced the fate of a nation. He mentioned about our new role model, none other than the newly proclaimed KDYMM Tuanku Raja Permaisuri Agong Malaysia Yg Ke 16 or for us in Pahang, our KDYMM Tengku Ampuan Pahang.
The issue of donning hijab has been a hot topic since last week when one young actress decided to remove her hijab. Being a public and popular figure, her action obviously brought about a lot of negative and nasty comments from the "ever so righteous" sectors of netizens. Some of us can be so unforgiving and too quick to condemn her forgetting that she did clearly admit it was not the best of a decision. She is young, let her find her way to be her genuine self instead of what the public demand of her.
Anyway, with all that commotion about Emma, not much is being discussed about our new positive role model, the number one lady of Malaysia, Our Raja Permaisuri Agong. All of us should be very excited to have one of the most hardworking and most grounded Raja Permaisuri Agong. Tuanku's body of works spans from designing/promoting local arts and crafts, preservation of old buildings of architectural values, the yearly open kitchen for those affected by floods and many more, the regular visits to local supermarkets where almost everybody in Kuantan has bumped into Her Highness at least once. And, of course, the multitude of international bodies and associations which Tuanku is personally involved. To top it all, Tuanku is setting a new hijab trend, a cover-it-all style and very shariah compliance. This is the style the world will see and recognize as a modest attire fit for the Queen of Malaysia for the next 5 years, inshaAllah. A trendsetter Queen is in the Palace, let's rejoice, people of Malaysia.
