After failing to make an impression at Anfield, Alberto Aquilani looks like one of the faces that will be heading for the club’s exit in 2012, and could leave in a part exchange deal. The 27 year-old moved to Merseyside in 2009 but has played barely 12 months of football in England, spending last season on loan at Juventus. The new deal is for a Napoli talisman but not Edinson Cavani as many have been speculating over the past two months. Instead, the offer would include Liverpool paying around £20m cash with Aquilani exchanging places with Napoli playmaker, Marek Hamsik. The midfielder has been linked with a move to clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea but thus far he has failed to complete a move away from Naples as many had prophesised. Aquilani came to England for a fee of around £17m and his value may have dropped but sides are reportedly still willing to pay around £12m for the midfielder. |
