Silva's agent confirms interest in Liverpool target
David Silva's agent has fuelled rumours that Liverpool have revived their bid to sign the Valencia star after he confirmed that a number of clubs had made enquiries.

Reds manager Rafa Benitez withdrew from the original transfer talks a few months ago after the cash-strapped Spaniards went public in an attempt to spark a bidding war with Juventus, Inter Milan, and Barcelona.
But it is now claimed that Liverpool have tabled a final £15million offer for the 23-year-old and Silva's representative, Jose Segui, admits there is interest in the midfielder.
"At this time it is normal there are many stories in the papers about transfers, but the decision depends on Valencia," Segui told Sky Sports. "It is certain that some clubs have asked about the boy, but he has a deal with Valencia and he is happy in the city."
Benitez, who left Valencia to become Liverpool manager in June 2004, has been courting Silva for a long time but was unhappy with the way the La Liga club handled negotiations when they eventually began back in March.
Benitez fumed: "Our chief scout was in Valencia and talked with different people from the club but someone was talking too much. If we are going to look for someone we will not announce it to everyone - we will try to do it properly and secretly."
Valencia sporting director Fernando Gomez, who admitted that Silva and striker David Villa might have to be sold to serve club debts of between £350m and £450m,insisted no decisions would be made until the end of the season with Los Che still battling for Champions League qualification.
"Now it is impossible to negotiate anything because the future of the team in qualifying for Europe is not decided and that is key for the budget next season," Gomez said.

Xabi Alonso's Agent Refutes Rumours Of Liverpool Exit
The Spanish international's representative says he knows nothing about reported interest in his client, and claims the player is happy to remain with the Reds...

The agent of Liverpool's Xabi Alonso has moved to quash rumours that the midfielder could be on his way out of the club at the end of the season.
Recent speculation has suggested that the Reds will have to sell several first-team players in order to raise funds for purchases this summer.
Alonso is thought to have come close to joining Italian giants Juventus and Premier League rivals Arsenal last year as Liverpool boss set his sights on landing Aston Villa's Gareth Barry.
Several reports have linked the 27-year-old with a departure from Anfield during the 2009 close-season, with Arsenal said to be reigniting their interest while it has been claimed that Manchester City and Real Madrid are also preparing bids.
However, the 56-time capped Spain international's representative Ignacio Ibanez says he has received no enquires about the former Real Sociedad's availability, and insists he is happy to remain with the Merseyside based outfit.
"I know nothing about these reports [of interest from City]," Ibanez told Sky Sports.
"As Xabi has always said he is happy at Liverpool and focused on them."

Legends turn out for memorial game
More than 25,000 Liverpool fans flocked to Anfield on Thursday for the Hillsborough memorial match.
They were also on hand to give a substantial helping hand to charity.
The chance to view the Liverpool Legends XI came in a week in which the club are about to fail again in their pursuit of the title, with Manchester United again on the brink of another Premier League success.
There were more than a dozen Liverpool greats on show with league title medals to their names, including the likes of Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen.
The cause was a good one: Dalglish's wife Marina's appeal to raise funds for a new radiotherapy centre at the nearby University Hospital, Aintree.
This charity game is a regular event at Anfield, but had greater significance as the game to mark the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
The crowd rose as one midway through the second half to call for justice for the 96 victims of Hillsborough.
The turn-out was impressive as England's famed SAS attack, Teddy Sheringham and Alan Shearer, joined forces again for the All-Stars, and Sheringham - pantomime villain for the night because of his Old Trafford history - scored with a stunning chip.
Rush and John Aldridge, strike partners at Anfield 20 years ago, also both scored. Dalglish returned to the fray to knock in the third goal as the Legends won 3-1. ESPN STAR Sports' chief football analyst Steve McMahon was also in the team.
The current Liverpool hero, new Football Writers' footballer of the year Steven Gerrard, received a huge ovation as he was introduced to the teams before kick-off as the guest of honour.

Liverpool in for Spanish youngster Jesus Fernandez
Exclusive by Alan Nixon 15/05/2009
![](http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/apr2009/6/6/image-10-for-liverpool-champions-league-training-gallery-757766878.jpg)
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is ready to beat Barcelona to the signing of Spanish teenage sensation Jesus Fernandez - nicknamed Suso.
Benitez's spies have been to see the Cadiz youngster, an attacking midfielder in the Cesc Fabregas mould, and he hopes his Spanish connections will help him win the race.
Suso has been offered a deal at Barca but his advisors think he could get lost in their 'system' while Benitez has big plans to bring in top young talent at Anfield after a recent reshuffle.
Benitez is set to recruit a couple of new coaches at youth level -including a top fellow countryman - and they are looking at the Spanish market as well as scouting for the next Steven Gerrard at home.
Suso is expected to come to Liverpool for talks, possibly as early as next week, with Cadiz resigned to losing their best prospect in years. |
