Episode 4 Review: Park Geun Hyung Selects Lee Yo Won as His Successor
In Empire of Gold, episode 4, Choi Dong Sung(played by Park Geun Hyun) selected Choi Seo Yoon(played by Lee Yo Won) as his successor.
Dong Sung went to find Seo Yoon at church. He confessed about his illness and said to her, “I don’t remember things.” He also handed her his fountain pen and said, “Seo Yoon. Don’t become a good person. Become a person everyone is afraid of.” Then he continued, “I love you, my daughter.”
Dong Sung and Seo Yoon hugged each other and cried.

Episode 5 Review: Son Hyun Joo Gets Remarried on the Day of His Wife’s Death
In Empire of Gold, episode 5, Choi Min Jae(played by Son Hyun Joo) got remarried on the day of his wife, Yoon Hee(played by Lee Il Haa)’s death.
Min Jae chose to marry Jung Yoo Jin(played by Jin Seo Yeon), the daughter of the president of a bank. On the day of their wedding, Min Hae heard the news of his wife’s death and was shocked. However, he enforced the wedding.
As Min Jae’s father said, “Don’t you think we should at least be at the funeral for her?” Min Jae replied, “Head to the wedding hall, father.” The father said, “It’s a shame that you’re my son.” Min Jae mentioned the situation of their company and continued, “Only if you had listened to me, our company wouldn’t have fell into Sungjin Group’s hands. Yoon Hee is still my wife. She’s still your daughter-in-law. This situation, this wedding, all happened because of you.”
Min Jae eventually carried on his wedding with Yoo Jin.

Episode 6 Review: Lee Yo Won Makes Jin Seo Yeon Turn Away from Son Hyun Joo
In Empire of Gold, episode 6, Choi Seo Yoon(played by Lee Yo Won) made Jung Yoo Jin(played by Jin Seo Yeon) turn away from Choi Min Jae(played by Son Hyun Joo).
Seo Yoon, who planned to block Min Jae from taking a loan, said to Yoo Jin, “Min Jae is a nice guy. He will be a good husband to you. I was worried that he might not forget about Yoon Hee(played by Lee Il Hwa). The day after your honeymoon, he went to Yoon Hee’s ashes and stayed there for hours.” Yoon Hee realized that day when he said, “I miss you” was actually to Yoon Hee, not her.
Yoo Jin got jealous, and later said to Min Jae, “I can’t give you the loan. It’s my decision.” Seo Yoon’s plan has worked.

Episode 6 Review: Go Soo Tells Son Hyun Joo “Let’s Go Together to the Empire of Gold”
In Empire of Gold, episode 6, Jang Tae Joo(played by Go Soo) accepted Choi Min Jae(played by Son Hyun Joo) as his business partner.
Min Jae came to see Tae Joo. Tae Joo said to him, “You have abandoned your wife. That means you can abandon me too.” As he was about to leave, Min Jae desperately shouted, “I’ll give you half of my stocks.”
Tae Joo stopped and thought for a while. Yoon Sul Hee(played by Jang Shin Young) dissuaded him, but Tae Joo said while looking at Min Jae, “A mudfish can’t catch up with a lobster no matter what.” Then he said to Min Jae, “Let’s go together. To the empire of gold.”

[Ratings: Mon, 07.22.13] ‘Shark’ Falls; ‘Gold’ Picks Up
Look carefully on the ground, because there’s gold to pick up.
SBS’ Empire of Gold burst into double ratings, pushing KBS’ Shark to place last on Monday night. While the difference isn’t too great, the fact that Empire of Gold escaped third place is still a great feat.
It’s also not too far off from reaching first, with MBC’s Goddess of Fire Jeongi only at 11.7 percent.
Now, all three records are pretty below par, but the competition is still keeping everyone on their toes since any of the three dramas can switch spots at any time.
