Ashida Mana to make singing debut with “Marumo no Okite” theme song
Child star Ashida Mana (6) will make her singing debut this spring, providing the theme song for her upcoming drama series “Marumo no Okite.” She and co-actor Suzuki Fuku (6) are forming a temporary unit called “Kaoru to Yuki, Tama ni Mook” to sing the song, titled “Maru Maru Mori Mori!”
“Marumo no Okite,” which was announced in February, is a family drama with a touch of fantasy about a man (played by Abe Sadao) who becomes the guardian of his friend’s twin children Kaoru and Yuki (played by Ashida and Suzuki). The two kids find a dog named Mook, and it turns out that he can speak like a human.
As the name of their unit suggests, Ashida and Suzuki are singing the theme song as their characters, along with the dog Mook. They already recorded the song at a Tokyo studio at the end of March. The two had to learn a dance created by Hamada “Peco” Miwako, who also choreographed the “Gake no Ue no Ponyo” song.
“Maru Maru Mori Mori!” will be released on May 25.
The official website for SABU’s Bunny Drop has been updated with a full trailer.
Based on a josei manga series by Yumi Unita, the film stars Kenichi Matsuyama as a 27-year-old office worker and bachelor named Daikichi who notices a little girl named Rin (Mana Ashida) at his grandfather’s funeral. He soon discovers that she’s actually the illegitimate daughter of his grandfather by an unknown mother, and that there’s really no one else around to care for her due to the social stigma attached.
Unwilling to place Rin in care as other family members urge him to, Daikichi instead decides to take on the responsibility of raising her himself. Although Daikichi is a bit clumsy at first due to his inexperience with children, he does the best he can as the unorthodox relationship he has with his 6-year-old half-aunt slowly evolves into one of a father and daughter.
Showgate will be releasing “Bunny Drop” in Japan on August 20, 2011.
Ashida Mana to become the youngest radio host ever, tops mobile charts
Today it was announced that six-year-old child actress Ashida Mana, who can currently be seen starring in the drama “Marumo no Okite“, will become the youngest girl ever to host a radio show.
Ashida’s radio show is called “Children’s Day Special – Ashida Mana’s Favorite Songs” and will air on Nippon BS, also known as JOLF, at 11am on May 5th. Her charming voice and cute talking in between the songs is bound to make it a really enjoyable show for every listener.
Meanwhile her debut song, “Maru-Maru-Mori-Mori!” – a duet with fellow child actor Suzuki Fuku (6) for the above-mentioned drama, has rapidly been climbing up the mobile download charts since its release on April 24th. Last week the mobile musical portal Recochoku announced that the soothing song managed to take over the first place in their weekly “TV/CM/Movie – Song” ranking.
