The Southern Tigers unveiled their marquee addition earlier today, with the Argentinean play-maker set to feature for them next season onwards
Johor Darul Takzim have officially completed the transfer of Pablo Aimar, as they unveiled him in a press conference that was held earlier today.
It was already a known fact that Johor were in negotiations with Aimar's representatives, but after lengthy talks, it has now been confirmed that the experienced midfielder will be representing the Southern Tigers from next season onwards.
Aimar has signed an initial two-year contract, with an option to extend for another three years, and according to speculations, Aimar will be the highest paid foreign player in the history of Malaysian football.
The 33-year-old play maker is already a well-entrenched figure around the world, having represented the likes of Valencia, River Plate and Benfica over the years. He even featured for Benfica in the Europa League final against Chelsea last May, in which they suffered a narrow defeat to the Blues.
This move represents a massive coup for Johor football, which has been revitalized by the Johor Crown Prince, Tunku Ismail. Besides Aimar, they have also secured the appointment of Cesar Jimenez, who previously managed Atletico Madrid, as their new head coach.
Braulio Nobrega will be their other foreign signing for next season, while several other local stars are also being linked with the big-spending Johor DT.
Per contra, their transfer activity will most likely alert other teams, who could be forced to spend in order to challenge the empire that is being constructed down south.
