Lee: Gunners won't fire blanks
Liverpool assistant manager Sammy Lee does not believe a weakened Arsenal team will present any less an obstacle.
Forwards Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie, goalkeeper Manuel Almunia and defenders Gael Clichy, William Gallas and Johan Djourou have all been ruled with injury.
And after a tough FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday there was a suggestion manager Arsene Wenger may look to rest more of his stars with the club also into the last four of the Champions League.
Lee, however, dismissed the notion the Gunners would be an easy prospect as Liverpool go in search of the victory which would take them two points clear of Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United, who would then have two matches in hand.
"Do they have a weakened team? We've seen lots of different rotations this season and they've all produced the goods," said Lee, standing in for manager Rafael Benitez.
"They'll be well organised and prior to Saturday's defeat against Chelsea they hadn't lost in 18. They won't be weak in any shape or form.
"Whichever team they put out tonight we know it will be a very difficult task.
"We know every game, every point, has its own importance and the lads are very focused, very concentrated and have trained hard."
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is likely to be out for another week with a groin problem which has sidelined him for the last two games.
But Lee said the team had learned to cope without their inspirational midfielder and he was confident they could maintain their five-match winning run in the league.
"Whoever we put on that park will be our best team. Obviously if you are missing your star players it is going to be a big miss but all credit to these lads," he added.
"We are a strong squad and we are all working together. They have stuck to it this year and the mere fact we are talking about the title shows the improvement this club has embarked upon this year.
"It is six games that we need to get maximum points out of and then we will see what happens.
"We want to be a threat to everyone and at this moment in time we are a threat to everyone.
"And as long as other people keep looking over their shoulder at us we know we are there or thereabouts."
Arsenal have a history of derailing Liverpool's title bid at Anfield, with Michael Thomas famously snatching the championship from their grasp with the final kick of the 1988-1989 season.
"That is in the past and it is not about looking backwards - good or bad," said Lee.
"It was a mind-numbing moment but that's football and you have to make sure you are covered for every eventuality."
Lee also backed Benitez after criticism from Sir Alex Ferguson and Sam Allardyce that he was contemptible and disrespectful towards other managers.
"One thing I will say is Rafa is certainly not arrogant," said the former Reds midfielder.
"I think it is quite sad really. We only get on with the job we have to do, we try not to consider what other people are thinking or saying about us.
"We are a humble football club, we have a healthy respect for everyone and win, lose or draw we have humility about ourselves."

Benitez: Advantage United
Rafael Benitez saw Liverpool concede a quartet of sloppy goals but he could not fault his players' commitment.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez cursed the "massive" mistakes which cost his side victory at home to Arsenal and handed the initiative back to Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League title race.
The Reds came from behind three times to snatch a 4-4 draw in the third minute of stoppage time.
However, the result hands a huge advantage to United, who are second only on goal difference and have two matches in hand - the first tomorrow at home to Portsmouth.
"It is really disappointing because we conceded four goals and normally we were not conceding these kind of goals," he said.
"We made massive mistakes. It is difficult to explain because it was different players in different stages of the game.
"You don't remember any save from Pepe (Jose Reina), it is just four chances and four goals and all of them have been our mistakes.
"For me the most disappointing goal was the last one, from a corner (to Liverpool). You have to control it outside the box."
Liverpool paid a high price for a number of uncharacteristic defensive errors.
Having dominated play for more than half an hour Javier Mascherano gave away possession on the edge of the penalty area and Cesc Fabregas crossed for Andrey Arshavin to fire in off the underside of the crossbar.
Within 11 minutes of the second half kicking off the hosts were ahead after headers from Fernando Torres and Yossi Benayoun, the latter's clearly crossing the line despite Lukasz Fabianski's desperate attempt to claw it back.
Alvaro Arbeloa failed to control Jamie Carragher's defensive header and Arshavin nipped in to blast a second and the Russian completed his hat-trick when Fabio Aurelio played the ball into his path 10 yards from goal in the 70th minute.
Torres scored his second with a smart turn to beat Mikael Silvestre, Arshavin converted an injury-time counter-attack to put Arsenal 4-3 up but there was still time left for Benayoun to score another equaliser very late on.
It puts a dent in their bid for a first title in 19 years but Benitez remained hopeful there were still a few twists left in the championship race.
"United are in the driving seat and we will see what happens tomorrow," he added.
"If they win it will be more difficult but they have to win and they also have to play against Arsenal so we will see.
"The positive thing is we have scored four goals against Arsenal and it was a good game.
"The other positive thing was the team fighting and working hard and we know this has to be the way until the end of the season"

Roque Santa Cruz profile: 10 things you need to know about the Liverpool target
![](http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/jan2009/0/2/F020A676-CC1B-0112-DC52E0ADF51180D0.jpg)
After Rafa Benitez decided Robbie Keane was not the man to be Fernando Torres’s foil after all, Liverpool’s sights are turning to Roque Santa Cruzfor a summer swoop.
Here’s all you need to know about the Blackburn striker rated as hotter than David Beckham…
1. Roque Luis Santa Cruz Cantero was born in Paraguayan capital Asuncion on 16 August 1981.
2.He joined Olimpia Asuncion as a nine-year-old and was invited into the first team squad at just 15 before making his full debut on 27 July 1998. The team won the national championship that year and in 1999, when Santa Cruz was also named Paraguayan footballer of the year.
3.His appearances for the U20 national side also helped him collect the accolade, as he scored three times in the 1999 Fifa World Youth Championship. Those performances earned him a call up to the senior side for the 1999 Copa America, where he scored three in three. He currently has 17 goals in 53 appearances for the national side, including this hat trick against Colombia in the 2007 Copa America. (watch with the sound down, the music's dreadful!)
4. His goal-scoring exploits caught the eye of Bayern Munich, and he was signed for €5million in July 1999. He repeated the instant impact he had with Olimpia, firing five goals in11 appearances to help secure the Bundesliga title that season.
5. He acquired something of a cult following in Germany, despite having major injury problems, and teamed up with Sportfreunde Stiller to sing Ich Roque. His time in Bayern was touched by sadness, though, as his younger brother Oscar died in a car crash in 2005.
6.After a Champions League triumph, five Bundesliga titles, four German Cups, a World Club Cup winner's medal and 38 goals in 189 games, the arrival of Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni saw Hughes snap up the strike rfor a bargain £3.5million deal in July 2007 in what was to prove one of the deals of the year.
7. He made an instant impact in the Premier League, scoring with only his third touch in an opening day win over Middlesbrough and went on to score 19 goals in his debut season.
8. The summer transfer window saw suggestions Roque Santa Cruz could follow Mark Hughes from Blackburn to Manchester City after their mega-money takeover. Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have also been said to be admirers but he signed a new four year deal in August 2008. Instead it was his 18-year-old brother Julio who was on the move, joining him at Rovers.
9. Germany’s Die Welt newspaper and Kicker magazine both voted Santa Cruz the most handsome player at the 2006 World Cup, with Raul, Luis Figo,Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry completing the Welt top five, leaving David Beckham entirely out of the picture.
10.He married Giselle, sister of former Olimpia team mate Ricardo Tavarelli, in 2004 and they have two sons Tobias and Fiorella. They are one of the football families to be targeted by burglars, and was forced to hand over thousands of pounds of jewelery at knife point last year.

Is Roque Santa Cruz the best answer for Liverpool's striker question?
![](http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/apr2009/0/8/roque-santa-cruz-27781715.jpg)
Fernando Torres and Roque Santa Cruz a match made in heaven?
Put it this way, baked beans and custard would be a better combination.
Santa Cruz is just too similar in style to work alongside Torres for Liverpool.
Like Torres, he is tall and lithe. Like Torres, he is good in the air. And like Torres, he is best leading the line.
He's even good looking like Torres and while female Liverpool fans are probably going weak at the knees at the thought of the two pin-ups leading the line for the Reds, that would be just about the only plus he would bring.
The pair would find each other standing on each other's toes more often than Ian Rush and John Aldridge did when those two arch penalty-box predators were at Anfield.
Santa Cruz could not fit into Rafa Benitez's favoured 4-2-3-1 formation behind Torres because he would be of little use in the hole or out wide.
He would only be a back-up to the Spaniard - and considering Blackburn have put a £20million buy-out clause in his contract - he would be a pretty expensive one.
There's also the Paraguayan's injury record and he has been crocked more times than Jonny Wilkinson.
While there is no doubting his talent, he has been plagued by injuries his whole career and may not kick a ball again this season after having surgery on his knee last week.
Anyway, Benitez already has the ideal partner to play in the free role behind Torres in Steven Gerrard.
Together they destroyed Real Madrid at Anfield and Manchester United at Old Trafford (poor old Nemanja Vidic is only now recovering from his tormenting).
Benitez tried Robbie Keane, but the Irishman found himself being pushed out wide or dropping deep and that affected his confidence in front of goal.
Ryan Babel is perhaps the other natural forward to play in the role, but he is dogged by inconsistency and Benitez seems to doubt him.
Dirk Kuyt is too much of a targetman to operate beside Torres and Benitez prefers his unstinting work rate on the right.
Yossi Benayoun has had his moments, popping up with a late winner at Fulham, but again Benitez sees him more as a winger.
Benitez also has the emerging David Ngog and Nabil El Zahr and French Under-21star Ngog has shown signs this season that he is progressing.
Rather than wasting another £20million on Santa Cruz, Benitez would be better off pursuing either - or both - David Silva or David Villa at his old club Valencia.
