New Cinema Opens In Tebrau
By Nurliana Kamaruddin
TGV Tebrau City will officially be open to the public starting from 28 January 2006, just in time to usher in the year of the dog for the Chinese New Year. Johorians will no longer have to travel all the way downtown in order to catch a film. So far, it has been confirmed that five out of the ten halls will be opened tomorrow and we can look forward to the remaining five halls opening in the following weeks.
As of today, we have not yet received any confirmation from TGV as to whether any of the 10 halls will feature a THX certification. The opening of the cinema was initially scheduled to happen at the same time as the Tebrau City Jusco early January 2006.
Located on the second level (also known as 'The Entertainment & Dining Floor') of the Tebrau City Shopping Centre, the cinema will be a good addition to the shopping complex which is currently touted as the largest Jusco in Southeast Asia. Cinemagoers should also be pleased to know that there are more than 3800 parking bays available at the shopping centre.

mungkin masa 1st time tgk rasa best.. tapi apa yg ada dgn big screen..? last2 sama je dgn wayang biasa kalau maintenance tak dikekalkan... macam skrin THX kat Mid Valley(Hall 12).. memula rasa power je, last2 cam biase je... aku tgk King Kong kat IMAX yg skrin besar tu pun tak best sgt...
Harap2 kehebatan TGV Tebrau City ni akan dikekalkan... aku belum try sgt semua Hall kat situ... just penah rasa Hall 2.. so takleh nak compare dgn GSC 1 Utama utk tgk mana lagi best... |

tadi lalu area The Curve dan IKEA tadi..dah macam siap bangunan Cineleisure ni, cuma ada sikit2 lagi nak kemas..
tak sure sempat buka bulan ni ke tak, tapi masa 6 Jun 2006 nnt ada tayangan khas Omen kat situ, so leh assume paling lewat buka pun pada 6 Jun nnt..
dah lama betul aku tunggu Cineleisure ni nak buka, dulu igt lagi, masa plan mula2, expected to open on November 2003, pastu November 2005, last2 May 2006...

So, Mega Pavilion kini dikenali dgn nama asal iaitu Cathay Cineplex...

A New Player Is In Town
By Brian J. Chong
26 May - Movie-goers can now look forward to a new movie going experience as Cathay Cineplexes Sdn Bhd has opened its flagship multiplex in Klang Valley at Cineleisure Damansara (next to the Curve), Petaling Jaya today.
Located on Levels 2 and 2M of Cineleisure Damansara, this new multiplex will reinforce Cathay Cineplexes? branding in Malaysia and its commitment towards high quality and wholesome cinema entertainment.
Cathay Organisation Holdings? President of Business Operations, Mr. Suhaimi Rafdi said, ?he opening of Cathay Cineplex Damansara is part of our expansion plan to strengthen our position in Malaysia. We will be looking for further opportunities in the region and will endeavour to exceed our customers? expectations wherever we operate.?
Nine years ago, Cathay Singapore started their first venture in Penang with Pernas to set up a chain of cinemas under the name of Mega Pavilion Cinemas (which is to be re-branded tonight to Cathay and will be undergoing a facelift over the next few months), as their Klang Valley flagship opens.
As Cathay Cineleisure is located within their neighbourhood of competitors, TGV Cinemas and Golden Screen Cinemas in One Utama, an agreement was made to keep pricing reasonable and competitive to avoid a price war.
"Online ticketing should be available from this Sunday, after our free screenings throughout the day which is open to the public tomorrow" said Suhaimi. For it? first year of operations, Suhaimi expects to have two million customers with a steady incline over the next year.
As part of the 10-screen multiplex, the 94-seat; ?he Picturehouse? is dedicated in showcasing art house movies as well as other critically acclaimed international feature films. The launch of ?he Picturehouse? is expected to change the movie-going landscape of Malaysia and further spur the growth of the movie industry.
With its stylish, classy and youth friendly environment, Cathay Cineplex Damansara is also well positioned as an ideal venue for special events like corporate events, seminars, private parties, launches and media events.
In conjunction with the opening of the new multiplex, a weekend of celebrations and activities has been lined up for the public from 27 May 2006 onwards. The exclusive Gala Premiere & Grand Opening Ceremony tonight is by invitation only.

The box office counter.
A soft-launch will mark the occasion tonight, which will be followed by a by invitation only screening of X-Men: The Last Stand.
However, CCD is giving away 10,000 tickets to the public tomorrow, valid only for shows on the day itself. The redemption coupon can be found in tomorrow? newspapers, one of them being The Star.
The halls are in blue, red and purple.
Located at Cineleisure Damansara (next to the Curve), CCD has two THX-certified halls. Apart from the usual popcorn and soft drinks sold at the concessionaire, moviegoers will also be able to buy kacang puteh (chick peas) at the Kacang Puteh Kiosk!
Cathay Cineplex Damansara is set to offer moviegoers a unique experience at the movies. A drive-thru ticketing system is in the works for a quick and easy way to purchase tickets and a special express counter will be set up to enable moviegoers to buy their tickets and snacks at the same time.
