Season 2 of “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” still a possibility
KBS 2TV’s “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” came to an end on November 2nd. Although the drama only managed to garner 10% in viewer ratings, it quickly drew die-hard fans with various syndromes such as the ‘Seon Joon syndrome’ and ‘Geol Oh obsession’, helping the drama attract more popularity along the way.
Despite the producers previously claiming that a season 2 would not be in the works due to plot conflicts, a representative of production company Lemon Rain revealed that the drama might indeed be continuing on to season 2 in a recent interview with Osen.
- The viewer ratings for the drama were rather low, but you still managed to succeed in bringing attention to the drama. How does it feel now that everything has come to an end?
“I’m actually highly disappointed with the viewer ratings. Only the TV broadcast is factored in despite there being a variety of other routes of viewing the drama such as through re-broadcasts and DMB viewing. It’s disappointing that such routes aren’t factored in, but we’re trying not to put too much importance on these numbers.”
- All of the cast members received praise for their acting. How would you judge them from the perspective of their producer?
“We’re all extremely satisfied. At the beginning, there were a lot of problems with synchronizing everything together, but with each passing episode, everyone started getting the hang of it. When news of the lineup first got out, a lot of the people around us began asking whether we’d even be able to produce a drama with such a cast, but our persistence won in the end. We’re just glad that everyone did so well. As for our perspective, we feel that we were able to turn over the assumptions that these particular actors wouldn’t have worked for this drama.”
- You have been receiving consistent requests for a season 2. Is one in the works?
“It’s not that we’re not planning it. If we do, we’d like to create another teenage story. There weren’t ever any historical dramas based on teenagers in the Chosun dynasty. It’s not like there were only those four youths from ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ living at that time. It’d be nice to draw a new story with a different set of teens. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but we have been listening to suggestions coming in. Still, it’s easier said than done. We’ll be preparing for another one by the end of next year or later. Regardless, we have positive opinions on the production of a season 2.”
- What do you think ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ means? What is it worth?
“That is probably the most difficult question to answer. A drama is just a drama, but there are a variety of opinions. Some said that we tried too hard to lecture the viewers…But from the producer’s standpoint, we didn’t want the drama to be something that the viewers would forget after one viewing. We put a lot of emphasis on societal problems of the time, and tried to make it connect with our youth of today. We hope that it’s a meaningful drama with a lot of messages to send out.”

JS’s dad goes and tells the King that SJ is not HBS and the King tells IS’s dad to apologize for what he did to the scholars:

King Jeongjo: Chief Inspector, so then, Hong Byuk Seo appeared last night. Then, do you mean to say that Lee Sun Joon who is currently locked up in the cell is not the Hong Byuk Seo?
Chief Inspector: That is correct, Your Highness.
King Jeongjo: In that case, War Minister, it appears it would be best if you apologize like the scholars are wanting.
War Minister: But Your Highness, that might be a little…
King Jeongjo: This is what has resulted from that unjustly search and seizure of Sungkyunkwan scholars, inside Sungkyunkwan, the institution of the truth, where the royal soldiers are not permitted.

the scholars are still kneeling when an offical calls out for the student president and Yhee steps up and says she is here and tells JS and YH that she found the GDJS
she also tells the King that she found out and tells him how she solved it in front of the King , the Prof Jung and the other old guy. The King thanks her and says they can start on that dream about that new world

Yhee explains what she meant and it impresses SJ’s dad and says now I see why my son thought of you as a precious friend

YH: You know who I am and yet you don’t run away from me so Im happyafter drinking YH says he is going to sleep in their room and JS tells SJ and Yhee to sleep in yeorim’s room but Yhee says lets all sleep here together and omg I think SH slept holding yhee’s hand and Js and YH were holding hands
IS tells his dad that Yhee is a girl and IS’s dad tells SJ’s dad

SJ is upset that they all slept together and Yhee said then next time should I sleep next to you and if I do then you wont be able to sleep and SJ is shocked and chases her down and corners her in the library to ask did you ever work on any of those racy books at the bookstore and she said only three times
SJ says he is ready to go to her house and declare their relationship

SJ’s dad reveals to the King about Yhee’s gender
King Jeongjo and Left State Minister in private conversation ]
Left Minister: Please bury the GDJS. Isn’t it too cruel to that father, and now the child?
King Jeongjo: What do you mean, Left State Minister?
Left Min: Your longing for reformation has Sungkyunkwan professor Kim Seung Hun sacrificed. And now his daughter is sinking into danger as well.
King Jeongjo: What do you mean Kim Seung Hun’s daughter?
Left Min: Sungkyunkwan scholar Kim Yoon Shik. That child is a girl.

Yhee is dressed as a girl and waiting for SJ to show up at her house and he is on his way carrying presents but as she looks at her reflection someone grabs her

JS’s drinks alone at a hillside and offers a drink to his bro and we hear his narration as he talks to his brother

Yh comes to find JS and says something has happened and they find SJ on his way to her house and the person who took her was the King and he is yelling at her tolift her face and tells her what she did wrong

Prof jung comes in and the king yells at him and PJ says to punish him and not her
and they lost me ….crap….
PJ says that he learned from Yhee that there isnt that much difference between men and women.

IS’s dad orders chosun to bring KYS and he tells her that KYS is a girl and chosun is shocked

SJ JS and YH ask PJung if Yhee has been captured – SJ is worried that the Norons might find out if a girl found the GDJS and something something
JS yells at Pjung and they all cry and get emotional and JS demands to know why PJ is not saving Yhee and why PJung is not keeping his promise

SJ begs his dad to save yhee : he says she opened a new world for him and gave him a world where he wanted to live and that world is now breaking around him ‘
and he is helpless and cant do anything about it so please help me father
and his dad says “are you my son”? and leaves SJ in the dark kneeling

SJ is in a room full of Norons and offers some way to protect the Norons but none of those old guys like it and walk out – no clue what was said

and yells at his dad and says what are you doing to her and JS shows up to help them so now it’s IS and CS and JS against all the men and YH is holding a bunch of guys trapped in a room

Sj goes to the king to spare Yhee and sell not to throw her away after all she did – and explains why she had to dress like a guy …and SJ makes some arguments that sound convincing just have no idea what he said exactly

SJ’s dad asks her to stick by his son’s side since something something doing it alone will be hard so stay by my son’s side
JS tells SJ to take better care of Yhee so that JS doesnt have to worry about Yhee anymore
Yh tries to tag along but JS stops Yh and tells SJ to go alone
when JS says is that a place for you to be (like a third wheel) and YH replies so is my place here? and hugs JS and JS laughs and let’s him again
SJ goes to see Yhee and she is dressed as a boy again in the library and he goes up to her and says “did you see a skilled bear” and she turns and says “whang so bang” and they smile and fast forward
