memandangkan gambar tak bole nak upload kat sini... (dah puas aku godek2 kat button image pun tak berjaya..) so aku citer je lah k....

Krabi Adventure
So here we are in Krabi airport after a 1 1/2 hour flight from KL. What struck me first is how calm the mood is. There's no people rushing, no taxi touts, definitely unlike Bangkok & Jakarta. When we went outside the bus taking us to Ao Nang was already there. The fee is 150bht and it took around 30min to get to Ao Nang. On the way, the bus would stop at Krabi town for travelers to Koh Lanta to get down. Suddenly it rains and we are fearing the worst as we did come during low season. When we arrived in Ao Nang, the bus will stop at the main road nearest to the hotels. Oh, before departure the bus driver will ask every passenger of their hotel names. By the time we got to our stop, it was still raining slightly but we decided to go for it. Our hotel, Aree Tara was located around 100m from the main road.

When we got to the hotel we were quickly given towels by the staff as we were soaking wet! Luckily the pineapple juice prepared by the hotel was nice. The hotel itself is nice and cozy. It has a modern look to it. Before I forgot, we were upgraded to the superior room for free! We were greeted by two towel elephants when we got to our room. The room has kind of an elevated bed and a lcd tv. The bathroom has 2 showers (so that you dont have to share...) and a bathtub. Although the view isnt facing to the pool at least we're not facing the wall of another hotel.  When the check-in is done we decided to explore the Ao Nang town.

Let it be known that Ao Nang town is quite a small town. You can walk from one side to the other without really feeling tired. It has all the shops that a seaside holiday town should have. And the variety of restaurants is there also. Italian, Japanese, Indian and of course Thai food is all there. But there was on thing on the menu that we really didnt expect... Crocodile steak! Apparently there's a market for it here. Dont worry, we settled for some jagung rebus only. Then we went looking for tour packages. We managed to get 3 packages for 5000bht. The Phi Phi Island tour which has 7 stops, Hong Island tour with 4 stops and the tour to the hot spring & Emerald pool. We already know that the normal price for the 3 packages would go for 5500bht upwards. So another job well done! It was already around 6pm by then. So we decided to have dinner early. Since we've just arrived and didn't know which restaurant is good or halal, we settled for the first roadside gerai halal. The chilli beef and ginger chicken rice we ordered was ok but the somtam we ordered from the next stall was something else! We cannot get enought of it! My husband thought this was going to be the most delicious meal he's gonna have is this trip. But little that he know that just a little up the road from the stalls there's one meal thats gonna make him sad to leave Ao Nang! Hehe... More on that later. So knowing that we've no plan until the day after, we decided to explore a bit further. We walked all along the beach until the end and realised there's a flight of stairs that goes up the side of the hill into the trees. We found out later that it is a path to a hotel located at the other side of the hill. Up we went without what we're in for. It must have been a full 200-300m before we got to the end. Not to mention the steep climb! It was already dark by the time we turned around and the same route back suddenly turned a bit.. ehem.. scary. I'm just thankful that no snakes or big cats or Ms Nang Nak was around.

We got early next morning coz the tour guide was gonna pick us up at 8.15 (local time). We took our breakfast at the hotels restaurant. When the waiter came with our scrambel eggs, we notice a funny looking little piece of meat on our plate. We asked the waiter about it and imagine our horror when we're told that it was pork! Luckily we asked before we do anything with it! So breakfast for us that morning was just cereal, toast, fruits, coffee and fruit juice!

Off we went with the tour guide in a modified pick-up van to the jetty. In the van already was a Spanish couple and a Malaysian woman. The jetty it self is located at the end of Noppara Thara beach, a mere 5 min ride from the hotel. After a 10 min wait at the jetty, off we went for our Phi Phi adventure. The first stop was the famous Maya Bay (of The Beach fame) and what a beauty it was! The sand is oh so soft and the blue water is crystal clear. Match that with the backdrop of hills and cliffs and coconut trees and you got yourself a paradise. We were told by our guide to snap photos quickly as we were the third boat to arrived that morning and that means there were not many people by then. So off we go snappin'. After several failed star jump attempt and trying to modeled our respective beach attire (keyword: TRYING) we went into the water. We also scoured the back forest/bush area. It looks like the soft, white beach sand continues up to the back as well. When we got back to the beach, there were allready more boats ashore. The crowd on the beach is swelling up now. If there werent so many tourist on the island, Maya Bay could've been the highlight of our tour here. After a short hour on Maya Bay our next destination was a snorkeling stop which name I forgot or cant pronounce. Though the fishes variety here is are more or less the same as the ones back home (Redang, Perhentian), the corals are something else. Its more colourful, more vibrant, more alive! I'm sure if I go scuba diving back home I could see the same but this is just in the shallow waters! Its like the coral are more properly taken care of here. But the lack of big fish is kinda disapointing though. There are three snorkeling stops in our trip.

After the first two, we stopped at Phi Phi Don (the occupied of the 2 Phi Phi island) for our lunch. The beach that we stopped at is nothing to shout about. The lunch area was actually located at the another beach on the other side of the island, which you can reach by a 5 min walk. The island itself consists of 2 lagoons meeting in the middle sanwiched between hills and mountains on one side and coconut trees and vegetations on the other. After a short walk through some stalls, we reached the lunch area which I must say is nicely done. It was several large white canopies located beside the beach and a restaurant. The basic ammenities is there and its clean! You will feel the ocean breeze while having lunch. The menu of the day was Tomyam (of course), fried chicken wings, fish (dunno what kind, yummy nonetheless), another chicken dish and one vege course. Yummyness! The drinks consists of 2 juices and of course bottled water. My dear hubby who was by now down with seasickness decided to skip lunch altogether. The anti-pening pill given by one of the travelers seems to help little. After about an hour, it was time to move again. The next stop was the Viking cage which was full with brid nest. Our guide did mentioned the tale behind the name Viking cave but it escape me altogether. After another round of snorkeling, we last stoped at Bamboo Island (I think) for a round of doing nothing! My hubby's favourite passtime!

to be continue.............

He slept almot the whole time on this island! He only woke up to taste the fruits that the guide brought (and peeled on the beach) and to take some pictures. After which he... continue his sleep! So that was the whole trip. We got back at around 3.30pm.

It was straight to the pool first for us! We decided there that we're gonna look for the night market in Krabi town but not quite sure of how to get there. Since a little economic factor is involed, we chose the motorbike to be our mode of transportation to Krabi town. The ones in the hotel costs 250bht per day which compared to our experienced in Bali is quited expensive. After extensive searching we found two places that will lease them for 150bht. But the catch is that you have to leave your passport with them. Kinda dangerous but cheap. We were given the Yamaha Fino scooter, the one that looks like a Vespa and off we go. It took around 1/2 an hour to reach Krabi town. The signboards can be a bit confusing but we managed to get ourselves there in one piece. The next challenge was finding the night market it self. It doesnt help that we imagined that it was a market selling t-shirts and stuff like Chatuchak. After a few stops asking directions, we were there. Suprisingly for us, there was no t-shirts in sight! But there are plenty of fruits and food! After just about 15min, we decided to leave but we did had a delicious meal of deep fried prawns. And the dipping sauce is oh so good! Since there's no stools around we had them standing. This is travelling! The road back was not as straightforward as we took a different way. It was already dark by then and all of a sudden all we can see beside us are only rubber plantations. Whats worst is that there's no streetlights either. What a nightmare! My hubby's helmet was full dead bugs! Hahaha. We made in the end, of course. After handing back the motorbike (We're not happy with the passport keeping arrangement, I saw them kept my hubby's passport only in the drawer. Imagined if some thief were to get their hands on it we will illegal immigrants), we went looking for dinner. We settled for fried rice at the Ao Nang seafood restaurant. It was nothing to shout about and at 80bht a bit expensive. Add that to the waiters insistance for us to take his taxi service to the airport and it got pretty nuisance. Next we went looking for foot massages to ease our mind. We settled for a one hour massage for 180bht (it was 200bht before the aunty gave us a discount, another good thing being here during low season, everything's cheap). After the heavenly foot massage, it occured to us that maybe we shouldnt have returned the motorbike so soon because now we have to walk back to our hotel.

We woke up at 7.30am the next day for another round of island hopping. After breakfast at the hotel came the tour guide, albeit 10min late this time. The same jetty was already full when we got there but most of them were on the Phi Phi Island tour. It was only 11 people on our boat to Hong Island today. The first stop was Rai/Phak Bia Island. We stopped on a beach connecting the two island. When the tide is low, you can walk from one island to another. Nothing much to do here except explore the shallow water for sealife. After half and hour here we stopped next at the Lading Island. A small but much better island as the corals is located just beside the beach. As soon as you step into the water you can already sea the fishes swimming around. Once you drop the bread crumbs and you will be surrounded by hundreds them. Later on we found out that it was only recently that tourist were allowed on the island where before only bird nest collectors were allowed on them. Next on the list was another snorkeling stop. But this one was more in the open water. There's was only a small island (not wrong if you only called it a rock) surrounded by open water. We were told to only snorkle on one side as the current is quite strong on the other and can overwhelmed weak swimmers. I for one can vouch for this. The corals here is colourful! I guess the ones situated further from the beach are naturally more beautiful. We were told there are 4 resident clown fish here and when we went looking at the spot told by the guide they were there! All 4 of them. Strange but the Nemos are so cute! There are a lot of red coloured corals here too. We were supposed to go into Hong's lagoon but the tide is not on our side. So we continued to sight the cliffs and bird nest cave around the island. In one of the cave, theres even one person guarding the bird nest from thiefs! We were told that he will stay there for 2 weeks before someone else come and replace him. For your info, I didnt see any TV or laptops! What a life! I guess the pay must've been good then. Lunch was next and we didnt expect how beautiful Hong's beach would be. The calm emerald water is crystal clear. The white sandy beach is flour soft! It is two small lagoon connected at the end and both are paradise. This island is beautiful! Lunch consists of a packed rice with a chicken meal and omelette. It might not sound much but since I was quite hungry by then, it was delicious! I would've taken my hubby's share if he'd skip lunch like yesterday but to my disapoinment he didnt. The watermelon and pineapple peeled on the beach fresh and sweet! Ohh this is life! After lunch we went a little into the jungle to see the tsunami boat wrecked. There are several of them left just as they are after the tsunami. It is quite a humbling experience. We were also told to look out for komodo dragons but luckily they didnt come out and play. After that there's nothing left to do but to enjoy the beauty of the island. We picked a spot under a tree to rest and it was sleeping time for my hubby. We did went swimming first and I felt like I dont want to leave! When it was time to leave I feel a little sadness to leave a place as beautiful as this.
